A braces-friendly Christmas is a happy Christmas!🎅🦷💫🎄Dr Donna Lim and her team of pink elves have put together a few ideas to help you be able to enjoy Christmas and keep your braces and brackets secure this Christmas – so your teeth continue to move towards their new positions throughout the holidays!
🎄 1. Honey-Glazed Baked Ham (Soft & Easy to Chew)
Why it’s braces-friendly: Tender, slow-cooked ham is soft and requires minimal chewing.
Serve with: Mash, soft veggies, gravy.
🥔 2. Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Why it’s braces-friendly: Smooth, soft, comforting.
Extras: Add butter, cream, roasted garlic, or herbs for flavour.
🍗 3. Slow-Cooked Turkey or Chicken
Why it’s braces-friendly: Moist, shredded poultry is easier than roasted slices.
Tip: Add lots of gravy for extra softness.
🧀 4. Baked Brie with Cranberry Sauce
Why it’s braces-friendly: Warm, gooey cheese—no crusty bread needed.
Serve with: Soft crackers, soft bread, or sliced pear.
🍠 5. Maple-Roasted Soft Sweet Potatoes
Why it’s braces-friendly: Roasted until verytender.
Season with: Cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup.
🥣 6. Pumpkin or Butternut Squash Soup
Why it’s braces-friendly: Smooth, warm, cosy, festive.
Add-ins: Cream, roasted garlic, or a swirl of pesto.
🎅 7. Soft Desserts (the fun part!)
✨ Pavlova (without hard toppings)
Use: soft berries, whipped cream, lemon curd.
Avoid: hard nuts or toffee pieces.

Soft sponge, custard, jelly, cream — perfect for braces.
✨ Ice-cream and Jelly
Always popular – there are plenty of yummy options that don’t have toffee, cookies, gum drops or other chewy bits!
