👋 Hello lovely families who follow our work and use our service ❤️ We’re so grateful for your interest and replies to our recent post about intensive therapy pop-up locations! Unfortunately we did not receive enough interest to go ahead with a pop-up in a new city 😔 But no worries! We will advertise again on a later date 👍 Until then, your children can still come and try our intensive program in Auckland at Early Movement Therapy or Hamilton if you contact us 😊 Take care and we look forward to hearing or seeing you in the near future 🤗

March hosted Rare Disorder Awareness Week, and New Zealand Woman's Weekly sat down with one of our little people, Brooklyn, and her family.

They discussed what a rare genetic condition can look like, how different life can be for both the affected person and their whanau, and more.

Ildi Dittrich and Early Movement Therapy got a mention too - it warms our heart to be recognised for the work we do, and we are extremely proud of being part of Team Brooklyn ❣️

Good evening fam, can you believe Christmas is only 10 days away? 🎄

And speaking of Christmas, we recently got cozy - kinda like we would on Christmas day - and had a nice chat with our expert Conductive Educator Ildi. We asked her a whole lot of questions around Conductive Education, her 'why', and more!

Conductive Education is a unique approach to special education that views individuals with motor disabilities as whole people, not just as collections of deficits.

This holistic approach recognizes the interconnectedness of physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Conductive Education isn't a new concept.
It's been around, in fact, for almost 100 years.

Professor András Pető was born on 11th September 1893 in Hungary, a son of a commercial father and a teacher mother.

Having studying medicine at the University in Vienna and working in various hospitals in Austria, Andras Peto became an experienced neurologist. A physician and educationalist who was interested in finding new ways to help children with motor disabilities.

His remarkable dedication and tenacity culminated in the development of this discipline in 1940, and laid the foundation to the ever growing work that we do today.

Imagine a world where movement, something we often take for granted, becomes a challenge, a constant negotiation between the mind and the body.

This is the reality for individuals living with Cerebral Palsy (CP), an umbrella term encompassing a group of disorders that affect a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture.

CP isn't just about limitations; it's also about resilience, adaptation, and the remarkable potential of the human spirit. It's about understanding that movement, in all its forms, is a fundamental aspect of human existence, shaping how we interact with the world around us.
