Kia ora
We've had a couple of lovely sunny spring days in Auckland, makes us all feel brighter.
Warmer weather good for those with breathing disorders but I know can be hard for those with allergies.
We have a few studies running currently - still one for people with alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency and emphysema.
Two studies for those with bronchiectasis - one using a device the other medication Vs placebo.
One for IPFA - Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
One for COPD.
We have a possible study for those whose asthma still not fully controlled and one for IPF.
Please contact us if you or your family interested in participating.

Nick Ashill lost his mum to the rare respiratory disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in 2015. As an ultra-marathon runner, he decided to realise his dream of running across the US from LA to New York to raise funds for the disease.

Nick started his run in May 2017. By August, he was 3,949 km into his 5,000 km journey when disaster stuck. Nick was hit by a truck, smashing his right leg and pelvis and throwing him into a ditch. The driver sped on and has never been identified.

This May, he is returning to finish the marathon - raising money for Asthma and Respiratory Foundation New Zealand and IPF awareness in the process.

Keep up with Nick as he runs his way across the U.S towards New York!

Breathlessness is a major symptom of COPD. The Asthma and Respiratory foundation NZ has put together this useful document that offers a number of interventions and techniques that can improve the severity and impact of breathlessness. These include self-management strategies, breathing exercises, positioning, and a hand-held fan"
