Big news from our theatres 🤖✨

Our da Vinci robot is now supporting gynaecological surgery at Ormiston - with Dr Christina Tieu and Dr Lisa Packard leading the way. This marks an exciting new chapter for women’s health and for robotics at our hospital.

It’s also been a huge moment for our nursing team, who have embraced the technology, expanded their skills and worked together to bring these procedures to life.

A proud step forward for women in robotics, innovation in care, and the future of surgery at Ormiston Hospital.

With cases of measles appearing in the community, now is the time to check your immunity.

✅ If you were born after 1969, you need two doses of the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine for full protection.
✅ Getting two doses of the MMR vaccine after 12 months of age protects 99% of people from measles.
✅ If you’re unsure whether you’ve had both, check your vaccination record or contact your GP - they can confirm your status and arrange vaccination if needed.
✅ The MMR vaccine is free in New Zealand for anyone aged under 18, for people over 18 who are eligible for free healthcare and for anyone when recommended by a Medical Officer of Health - regardless of your immigration status.

Protect yourself, your whānau and the wider community - check your immunity and book your MMR today.

New procedure alert 🚨

As Ormiston Endoscopy continues to grow to meet the needs of our community, we’re proud to now offer Anti-Reflux Mucosal Ablation (ARMA) — a minimally invasive day-stay procedure for patients with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD).

Performed by Dr Anurag Sekra, Dr Aung Htoo and Dr Ravinder Ogra, ARMA takes just 40–60 minutes, offers a quick recovery, and is covered by most insurance policies.

If you experience ongoing reflux symptoms, talk to your GP about a referral to Ormiston Endoscopy.
