This team is one of the most essential and are often behind-the-scenes. They ensure equipment is ready, every safety check is done, and every patient is supported from the moment they arrive in theatre.

A warm welcome to Debbie Ratima, who recently joined us as our new Theatre Services Manager 💙

Debbie’s first day began with a whakatau to welcome her to Ormiston. Since then, she’s been working closely with our operating theatre teams as she immerses herself in our services and focuses on how we can continue strengthening patient outcomes and workplace culture.

You don’t always see it, but there’s a lot of learning happening inside a hospital. So far for us this year that's looked like:

- Four new graduate nurses starting their careers with us
- Welcoming our first Clinical Coach to support the ward and endoscopy
- Students on placement across the hospital (many for their very first hospital experience)
- Internal workshops running alongside busy clinical days

Scar revision laser therapy for burn scars at Ormiston Hospital.

We’re proud to offer a service designed to support long-term healing after burns. Using advanced CO₂ laser technology, this non-surgical treatment helps soften thickened scar tissue, reduce persistent redness and improve comfort and mobility over time.

The treatment works by stimulating your skin’s natural healing process - encouraging healthy new tissue growth, without damaging surrounding skin.

It’s a safe, evidence-based option available right here at Ormiston, in partnership with the regional burns team.

One of our favourite traditions of the year 🎄💝
Our annual Shoebox Christmas Aotearoa fundraiser is always a highlight, and once again our team has shown incredible generosity to help spread a little Christmas joy to children and families in our community.

Following a successful run of Mako knee replacements in 2025 (100!), we’re excited to celebrate our first robotic-assisted hip replacement at Ormiston!

The festive season is nearly here, and our team will soon be taking a well-earned break 🎄

Ormiston Hospital & Healthcare will close for procedures at 3:00pm on Monday 22 December 2025, reopening on Monday 12 January 2026.

As we wrap up the year, we want to thank our patients, specialists, Ormiston staff, and our South & East Auckland community for your ongoing support. It’s a privilege to care for you.

Our team has now completed 100 da Vinci robotic surgeries in urology, a huge achievement made possible by the nurses, surgeons and theatre staff who bring their skill, care and teamwork to every case.
