It’s Mental Health Awareness Week — and the NZ Check-In is officially live! 🙌

It only takes 30 seconds — but your voice adds to a powerful national snapshot of how Aotearoa is really feeling.
✨ Check in for yourself.
✨ Check in for your community.
✨ Together, we can build a picture of wellbeing across the country.

Thanks Forbes for the feature and deep dive on Groov, our workplace platform and wellbeing partnership with New Zealand Rugby.

"With Groov’s platform, offices around the world are being given the tools to help their workers feel good, function better and maintain happy and healthy lifestyles.

“With the All Blacks looking to lift a fourth Rugby World Cup by the end of October, there is no better moment for the two organizations to raise awareness about a proactive approach to mental wellbeing. The two organizations will benefit from mutual collaboration, putting mental performance at the forefront in business and in sports.

Groov is teaming up with New Zealand Rugby as its official wellbeing partner - helping highlight mental health on and off the field.

We had a blast at the Wellbeing at Work World Summit in London this week, as Sir John Kirwan inspired the crowds with his keynote, and even got everyone up to demonstrate their best dance moves 🕺💃

In just a few hours, we'll be heading to Manchester for day two of the Wellbeing at Work World Summit, and we're super excited to connect with attending business leaders who are passionate about making wellbeing a strategic priority for their workplace.

If you're going along to the event, pop by the Groov stand to meet Sir JK and some of our Groovers, find out more about Groov for your workplace, or ask to book a meeting with the team!

Check out these awesome snapshots from London's event on Tuesday 📸

With just two more days to go, for Mental Health Awareness Week's Five Ways, Five Days theme, today's Way focuses on Connect 💛

Connect is all about making social connections with the people around us. Feeling connected with others is strongly linked with better mental health and gives us a strong sense of meaning and purpose.

Here are some Connect activities you can put into practise today:

👋 Is there someone you haven’t spoken to in a while? Why not send a message, give them a call, have a chat, or start your weekend early and arrange a catch up in person.

🥘 Organise a potluck dinner, barbeque or shared lunch with your family, friends or workmates. Bring your favourite dish and connect over some delicious food.

🫶 Have a think about whether there's someone in your life who may be going through a tough time. Reach out and ask them how they are, empathise and really listen.

To support Mental Health Awareness Week's third Way to wellbeing this week, we're encouraging everyone to Be Active 💚

Being active is awesome for your mental health as it activates those feel-good hormones like dopamine and endorphins, and lowers stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol.

Even a few minutes of movement will boost your mood and have other psychological benefits.

Give these Be Active ideas a go:

🚲 Run or cycle to work today. Try parking a little further away from the office or get off the bus a stop early and walk the rest of the way.

🚶 Instead of having meetings in the office, get some fresh air and go for a walking meeting outside.

🏊 Try a new hobby. Is there something you've always wanted to try? There are plenty of active hobbies, such as swimming, rock climbing, cycling, or kayaking.

Today, we're supporting Mental Health Awareness Week's second Way to wellbeing - Give 🩷

Being generous - be it with time, resources, or support - is a powerful way to create a positive impact on the world while also looking after your mental health. Giving boosts happiness and life satisfaction and provides a sense of belonging.

Try these Give activities today:

🎥 Attend our Groov Live webinar at 12PM NZST | 10AM AEST with Shaun Robinson, Dr Nathan Price, Charlotte Ward, and Dr Fiona Crichton 👉 bit.ly/3sMRZWq

🧁 Bake something tasty to share with friends, family or colleagues at morning tea time.

🫴 Do you have a mate who could do with a helping hand? Give them a few minutes or hours of your time today.

🫶 Take a moment to stop and chat with a loved one. As ‘how are you?’ and really listen.

About Mentemia

Feeling anxious? Overwhelmed? Stressed? Sleeping poorly?

These are just a few of the things many individuals in the workplace struggle with, yet lack the tools and knowledge on how to better equip themselves. Left unattended, these small stressors can build up over time leading to more serious mental health problems.

Sir John Kirwan has seen this time and time again as the face of mental health and depression.org in NZ for the last 15 years. Although his contribution has been immense, the mental health stats continue to go in the wrong direction.

Empowering individuals to take control of their mental wellbeing and prevent them ever reaching that state was key for JK and serial tech entrepreneur Adam Clark when they founded Mentemia. The mental wellbeing platform is helping everyone learn and understand that with small changes they can feel happier, healthier and more resilient both at home and at work.
