Steel & Stone 2026

The team had a great time, with PBs all round, and I’d love to post all their content to highlight their efforts! With a team of ten, that’s too many videos for one post, so I’m gonna spam the gram with a few posts.

This weekend was a great display of a long-time vision I’ve had: collaboration, teamwork, bettering each other as we better ourselves, and always learning.

Everyone has something to offer from their own unique experiences, no matter where they are in their journey, and where you are in yours.

Long ago, when was dreamed up, the intention was to bring people together who shared the same love and passion for strength and conditioning. A team of coaches to lead by example 😎 to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

Fast forward to 2025 and we have Frontyard to the WORLD! A team of athletes led by a team of coaches 🔥 and this weekend was the first competition that really, logistically, put that on display.

Saturday sessions leading into competition were led by and .

Individual coaching and programming for the novice boys was handled by .renzo & . Physiotherapy, and coaching for the weight class athletes was led by .

With technique, oversight, feasibility, and strategy handled by .

Supported throughout the weekend by dedicated assistants .josh, and hypeman , keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

By working together as a team and sharing our thoughts and critique, we were able to bring the BEST out of each and every one of the athletes on the day.

NZPU No Mercy (Novice) - Kerry & Maxine 💪

I am very proud of these two girls, stepping out onto the platform for their first competition! The last 16 weeks they’ve worked very hard to learn how to bench press and increase some upper body strength, fighting physiology and making gains.

They were the only two novice females, so they finished 1 and 2, with some PBs: A 35kg Bench Press for Kerry and 52.5kg Bench Press for Maxine.

Well done girls! More kilos to come at the next competition 😎

Franklins Strongest 2026 - Ray

Rays second comp of the year already, placing 2/3. A massive highlight at this competition would be his 380kg Deadlift! Huge milestone on the road to 400kg without a suit.

An impressive performance with:
- 110/130kg steeplechase
- 110kg sandbag to shoulder
- 180kg Viking press
- 380kg deadlift
- 100/110/120/130/140kg sandbag loading

Well done Ray!

Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy)
Honours (1st Class) 🥇🏆
Grateful to receive recognition for best Sports & Exercise Research and best overall Physiotherapy Research.

The path here wasn’t straightforward. In 2019, I experienced a moderate TBI and struggled with memory, confusion, and everyday tasks. Life felt uncertain, but one goal remained steady, a dream I’d shared many times with Liezel: to study physiotherapy.

What followed was a reset. Starting again, choosing meaning over comfort, and committing to steady progress. Recovery became gradual and consistent, brick by brick, just like strength training.

With the support of my wife, parents, and mentors, I started in 2020 with one paper at a time. In 2022, I was accepted into physiotherapy and continued to take things week by week.

Alongside study, I continued coaching, travelling with athletes, my own training, and showing up for family. It wasn’t perfect or easy, but it was meaningful.

Sharing this not as a highlight reel, but as a reminder of what’s possible with patience, consistency, and strong support.

Grateful for the journey and what’s still to come.
