Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy)
Honours (1st Class) 🥇🏆
Grateful to receive recognition for best Sports & Exercise Research and best overall Physiotherapy Research.

The path here wasn’t straightforward. In 2019, I experienced a moderate TBI and struggled with memory, confusion, and everyday tasks. Life felt uncertain, but one goal remained steady, a dream I’d shared many times with Liezel: to study physiotherapy.

What followed was a reset. Starting again, choosing meaning over comfort, and committing to steady progress. Recovery became gradual and consistent, brick by brick, just like strength training.

With the support of my wife, parents, and mentors, I started in 2020 with one paper at a time. In 2022, I was accepted into physiotherapy and continued to take things week by week.

Alongside study, I continued coaching, travelling with athletes, my own training, and showing up for family. It wasn’t perfect or easy, but it was meaningful.

Sharing this not as a highlight reel, but as a reminder of what’s possible with patience, consistency, and strong support.

Grateful for the journey and what’s still to come.

Athlete Progress - 2025

Ray took on just about every strongman competition available in New Zealand in 2025 ... and from what I’ve heard, the goal is to hit all of them in 2026.

He wrapped up the year with an impressive run of results:

1st - Te Puke
1st - Tauranga
3rd - Franklins
1st - West Auckland
3rd - Waikatos
1st - Easter Show
4th - Pacific’s (International)
3rd - Upper North Island Log & Deadlift
5th - NZSM(despite missing one event due to injury)
2nd - South Auckland’s
2nd - LDS Christchurch

Along the way, he also clocked some big PBs, including a 370kg deadlift and a 155kg log.

Plenty to be excited about heading into 2026 💪

Athlete Progress - 2025

Young Toko Lini! well, well, well… where do I begin?

First things first, he turned 21 in 2025 and is still so young in this game. Always pushing, always keen to compete, and never one to shy away from a challenge.

As for PBs… all of them. He’s still a novice and new to the strength scene, so every lift this year has been a personal best. Standouts include a 100kg push press for 2 reps, 160kg bench press, a 345 kg axle wagon wheel deadlift, and a 317.5 kg deadlift.

Competition highlights include 2nd at Counties, 4th at Log & Deads, and finishing the year in 1st place at Juniors, Natural NZSM.

Undoubtedly one of the strongest juniors in the country. 2026 is gon be good! World Champs, here we come 🔥

The Powerpuffed Girls of Taupō 💪
These wāhine have been putting in the mahi over the past few years, getting stronger brick by brick.

Tammy’s perseverance has seen her execute all three SBD lifts with a 25-30kg loaded barbell, unaided, despite the barriers often placed on people by societal perceptions of stroke and CP.

Kerry and Maxine continue to prove that strength doesn’t have an age limit. Through consistent training, they’ve hit PBs across all their lifts, including 37.5kg and 47.5kg bench presses, and 90kg and 100kg deadlifts.

They’ve now signed up for the NZPU Bench Press competition in April, so let’s get behind them and show our support 👊

Athlete Progress - 2025

Taki made his competition debut in 2025 and backed it up with some solid lifestyle changes, including early mornings and training before work, putting real focus into squats, deadlifts, and more than just bench press.

When he’s training with the boys, the competitive edge comes out and he’s able to really push and let it rip. From a wild 10-rep set on the log to 220kg deadlift overhand, it’s clear there’s a lot of untapped potential there.

Lock in for 2026, Taki, and you’ll go a long way 💪

Athlete Progress - 2025

The young guns 🔫💪
I was fortunate enough to meet these boys through Lorenzo and the work he does in the community. Lorenzo had already been supporting the younger brothers with their health and fitness goals. Together with Tāmaki, we backed these boys, with me handling the programming and supporting Lorenzo with coaching - through their first competition and beyond.

All three boys performed exceptionally well. Maino placed 3rd, Alo placed 2nd, and Diego took 1st, with both Alo and Diego breaking NZ records at the competition. Since then, they’ve continued to train hard and stay committed to their lifting.

Diego set the Deadlift record witj 225kg and also hit PBs of a 150kg bench press, 180kg squat, and 100 kg log.
Alo broke the log record with 100kg and pressed 140kg on the bench.

I’m excited to see them keep pushing into 2026, and I’ll be there to support them every step of the way.

Lock in for 2026! Big things ahead! 💪
