✅ Reduced Stigma – Empower employees to take the first step anonymously

Being the last day of Movember here at Wellbeing Solutions we wanted to remember and celebrate those important men in our lives both with us and those who have left the fondest of memories.

Movember is when our brave and selfless men around the world grow a moustache and women step up to support them, all to raise awareness and funds for men's health - specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and su***de prevention.

Look back on the men’s health stories of the month and check out information about a range of men’s health issues on the Movember website.

Wellbeing at Christmas has its positives and these are just as important to share as the challenges at this time of year. I thought I'd share some of my loves leading up to the festive season:

* Decorating the office to increase that positive vibe and enjoyable atmosphere
* The morning tea and office parties promote team building and a unique togetherness
* Appreciation and recognition from employers to employees for their efforts throughout the year
* Catching up with friends and family you don't often get to see for long periods
* Christmas creates a mindset of giving and supporting others who need help

Whilst many celebrate Christmas, organisations must be mindful of other cultures and personal circumstances. All in all, creating a positive working environment is something that everyone benefits from including the business.

Today's well-being assessments are driven by capturing data to make strategic business decisions to improve workplace well-being holistically.

At Wellbeing Solutions we support real-time data for strategic decisions but this is secondary to identifying each individual's well-being needs immediately after completion of our assessments.

Once identified, users can choose to have professional support (where we connect them to professional services) or they can choose to be supported by a "Contactor" (an employee trained by Wellbeing Solutions within the organisation to reach out and guide the employee needing support and record all communication for a business due diligence) or direct support where the employee is communicated steps to take to manage their challenges identified.

Engagement is crucial and all Wellbeing Solutions assessments have multilingual capability and cultural symbols to give users a sense of relating to the assessment as well as feel valued resulting in answering the assessment honestly which in turn supports them with the support and guidance they may need.

What is the ROI (Return On Investment) on implementing and managing a successful Wellbeing Strategy for a business?

We are well aware of the legal requirement for managing your peoples wellbeing and in 2024, insurance companies will be introducing clauses regarding the importance of managing psychosocial risks in the workplace.

There is one other driver for boards and executives to drive their employees wellbeing and that is the ROI or Return On Investment. Many businesses do not realise the metrics needed to support this are already in their business. Some of the metrics that can be identified are

Role Clarity & Support
Within the first two years of starting, significant numbers of employees leave due to lack of role clarity combined with additional tasks added to their workload with lack of training and support.

Absenteeism
Employees take sick leave or other leave options, disrupting business workflows and key operational tasks.

Team Dynamic Impacted
The absence of an employee can introduce added pressures within a team as they support the additional workload increasing the risk of further well-being challenges on dedicated team members resulting in further absenteeism.

Employee Turnover
Consider recruitment, appointment and training costs that are lost when an employee leaves due to well-being issues. How much of an investment was made to recruit the employee and is now required for a second time?

Now that we are aware of our legal obligation as well as insurance companies introducing clauses relating to managing psychosocial risks for it's employees from 2024, it is clear that the risks of not implementing a Wellbeing Solution and strategy for your employees will have a greater impact on the business than if you do nothing.

How does ISO:45003/2021 help me with managing my employee well-being and my wellness strategy?

The ISO:45003/2021 is an international Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) that offers guidance on managing the psychosocial health of everyone involved in the workplace, with a clear focus on preventing and managing psychosocial risks in any working environment to ensure a healthy and more supportive working environment for employees.

Businesses can further strengthen their well-being strategy by implementing the principles outlined in the standard. Actioning these steps contributes to a positive working environment and employee job satisfaction which combined, improves overall business performance.
