We’re proud to celebrate our Five Star Partner, Mercury 💙

Thanks to the generosity of Mercury and it's customers, 96 Starship staff were able to upskill last year, deepening their expertise and helping ensure children receive the very best care possible.

This included advanced training in paediatric nutrition, bringing new insights into how we care for children with complex conditions, as well as collaboration with leading teams at children’s hospitals in Sydney.

These learnings are now being adapted at Starship, strengthening the continuum of care for our young patients and their whānau.

Ongoing learning is vital in a hospital like Starship, helping our teams deliver the latest treatments, improve experiences, and achieve better outcomes for tamariki.

Thank you, Mercury for investing in the future of child health.

Three years of kindness 💛

We’re incredibly grateful to be partnering once again with Costco Wholesale New Zealand who are supporting Starship for the third year running through donations at the checkout.

It’s simple: next time you’re shopping at Costco, you can choose to donate when you pay. And those small acts? They add up in the biggest way.

Every dollar helps support life-saving care, equipment, and support for sick children and their families at Starship.

So if you’re heading in-store, please consider adding a donation because together, we can make a big impact 💫

A huge thank you to Costco and their incredible community for standing with Starship.

Arlo’s parents didn’t know if their beautiful new baby boy would survive. Arlo was born with a rare, complex and life-long condition called Eagle Barrett Syndrome, also known as Prune Belly Syndrome. The condition needed specialist treatment, which is why at just 4 weeks old, Arlo was transferred to Starship, the home of specialised paediatric care.

Children like Arlo need Starship, and you.

Please donate today at https://bit.ly/supportstarship

Nothing prepares you for hearing your child might not survive.
My name is Leanne. I’m mum to the bravest little boy called Arlo.

Arlo was born with Prune Belly Syndrome, an incredibly rare, lifelong condition. And we were told before he was born that he would need extra care – and Starship.

I’ve since learnt that without Starship, children like Arlo might not survive.

Please help Starship be there for the next family like ours.

At just 11 days old, Roxie was fighting for her life.

Although she’d been born healthy, Roxie suddenly became seriously unwell with an infection that caused life-threatening sepsis.

Despite emergency surgery at Christchurch Hospital, her condition suddenly deteriorated and she needed an urgent transfer in Starship’s Air Ambulance to get her to the only paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in the country – at Starship Hospital in Auckland.

The impact of Roxie’s spinal infection was devastating – causing instability and injury, but thanks to Starship – Roxie is still here. She’s making remarkable progress and her parents are blown away by the level of care and compassion shown by hospital staff.

This March, you can help children like Roxie. Join Kilometres for Kids. Walk or run 85km, or cycle 300km – and help keep Starship’s Air Ambulance flying.

A milestone moment 💜

The largest redevelopment in Starship’s history is complete, expanding our national PICU and transforming care for New Zealand’s sickest children.

$23 million was raised by generous supporters, alongside government funding. This is what community can achieve.
