Grateful, proud, and grounded in our purpose
Last week, our Whānau Ora Team had the privilege of being recognised at the Tātou Collective Provider Awards — a timely moment to pause and reflect on the galuega that happens quietly, faithfully, and every day for our whānau.
We were humbled to receive 2nd Place – Top Delivery Partner, acknowledged for strong performance and for upholding quality and professionalism across the network. More than any award, we truly hope this reflects what matters most — that our families have felt supported, seen, and helped through our service. That is the real measure of success for us.

A heartfelt congratulations to our Whānau Ora Team Leader, Jean Marie Mataafa, who was awarded 1st Place – Top Navigator for her exceptional navigational skills and for leading key establishment milestones with care and excellence. An incredible achievement that honours the whole team.
We remain deeply grateful to our partners, our kaimahi, and most importantly our whānau who place their trust in us. We carry this recognition with humility and a renewed commitment to serve even better.

As the school year wraps up, we want to give a huge shoutout to our awesome Mana Kidz team — out in schools every day, keeping our tamariki healthy, confident, and ready to learn.

In partnership with National Hauora Coalition (NHC), South Seas has proudly delivered Mana Kidz for many years — a free, nurse-led school health programme that continues to make a powerful impact across South Auckland.

From rheumatic fever prevention to vision and hearing checks, skin infection treatment, and daily health assessments, Mana Kidz is always there — right where our tamariki need us most.

We are proud of what our team achieves, through delivering Mana Kidz:
✔️ Reduction in acute rheumatic fever
✔️ Tamariki spending less time in hospital
✔️ Improved school attendance
✔️ Happier, healthier, more engaged learners

Last Day of Movember | Pacific Men’s Health Matters

As we close out November, we’re reminded that men’s health isn’t a one-month campaign — it’s a lifelong commitment. Today we wrap up with our close out message from Pacific Legends player Valentine Tauamiti, who reminds us of something powerful: “Reconnecting with your brothers — your teammates, your friends — off the field is just as important as the game itself.”

When our Pacific men stay connected, supported, and grounded in community, our whole village gets stronger. Together with Pacific Rugby Players (PRP), we’ve been championing the long game — health, wellbeing, and a future where our men thrive.

Watch the final video of our November Men’s Health series and join us in backing our men, today and every day.

POPO Interns 2025
This week we welcomed our new PoPo interns through the University of Otago’s Va’a o Tautai programme.

South Seas has proudly hosted PoPo interns for many years as part of our long-standing relationship with Otago — nurturing Pacific talent, strengthening our future workforce, and creating real pathways into Pacific health.

We believe internships like these are the bridge that transforms Pacific potential into Pacific leadership — and that gaining real work experience while studying is how we grow the next generation of Pacific health champions.

Championing Pacific Men’s Wellbeing
As we move through the final week of Movember, we’re standing strong for the health and wellbeing of our Pacific men, our families, and our future.

Pacific Legends Player Jonathan Fa’amatuainu reminds us that life after rugby is a journey, and that caring for men’s mental health is central to staying grounded, resilient, and connected.

Checking in with yourself, reaching out when you need to, and staying mindful are all acts of strength.
Together, let’s uplift our Pacific men — this week and every week!

We’re closing out Movember - Men’s Health Month by sharing a video each week of November that promotes backing our men — their health, their wellbeing, and their future.

Today, our Pacific Legends Player Kahn Fotuali’i shares a powerful reminder: support is always within reach. Whether it’s reaching out for advice, catching up over a coffee, or simply having a talanoa — staying connected keeps our men strong, on and off the field.

Let’s keep showing up for our brothers, fathers, uncles, sons, colleagues and friends.
Your health matters. Your story matters. You matter.

Closing out Movember strong!
As we pass the halfway mark of November, it’s a timely reminder to turn up the dial on Men’s Health — championing our fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, colleagues, and friends who carry so much for our families and communities.

Every day is a good day to advocate for our men, but campaigns like Movember bring an extra spotlight to the cause.

How are we doing our part?
Starting tomorrow, in partnership with Pacific Rugby Players - South Seas Healthcare will be sharing highlight reels from our Pacific Legends Men’s Health Campaign — raising awareness around physical health, mental wellbeing, cancer prevention, and the importance of early check-ups. These stories remind us that everyone is on a wellbeing journey — and no one has to walk it alone. Join us.

Because our men matter. Their health matters. Their future matters.

👨🏽‍🦱 Check in. Speak up. Get checked. Stay strong.

Celebrating Pacific Excellence
We proudly celebrate Associate Professor Dame Teuila Percival, our South Seas Deputy Chair and SSH Co-Founder, on her induction as a Fellow of the Pacific Academy of Sciences (PAS) — recognising her transformative leadership and lifelong service to Pacific child wellbeing. Dame Teuila stands among 13 remarkable Pacific scholars and innovators shaping the future of science, education, and leadership across our region. Her continued acknowledgments remind us that when Pacific women lead with courage, compassion, and conviction — the world takes notice. Partnerships that Empower Our Communities

Our South Seas Board represented by Hon. Aupito Su’a William Sio (Chair), Dame Dr Teuila Percival (Deputy Chair), Rudi Laumatia (Board Member), and our South Seas Senior Leadership Team had the opportunity to welcome and meet with Dr Dale Bramley (CEO, Health New Zealand) and Dr Andrew Brant (Executive Regional Director, Northern).

It is refreshing to hear the strong commitment to community-based services, primary care, and community providers — and to see the opportunities for like-minded organisations to come together in partnership with renewed leadership.

Together, we continue to champion collaboration that keeps our families and communities at the heart of care.

At South Seas, celebrating culture and our people is important to us — it’s what keeps our connections strong and our hearts full. We wrapped up the working week with an organisation shared lunch to show our support for the mighty Toa Samoa ahead of this weekend’s game against the Kiwis!

A fun, vibrant way to end the week with pride, unity, and team spirit. No matter the outcome - People and culture are the winner!
