Community Services Planning Day

When we come together, our village grows stronger.

Last week, our South Seas Healthcare Trust community services teams — Whānau Ora, Whānau Resilience, Well Child, SUDI, Integrated Services Auckland, Green Prescription and more — gathered in Ōtara for a powerful day of connection and strategy.
We reflected on our impact, tackled challenges head-on, and strengthened pathways of care for our families. Because at South Seas, better outcomes happen when we break down silos and build true wrap-around support for our Pacific communities.

Planning together means delivering together.

South Seas clinical collaboration in Samoa.

This week, our South Seas Clinical Taskforce undertook a visit to Poutasi District Hospital, supporting the Long-Term Placements & Twinning Programme in partnership with Le Afio’aga o Aotearoa and the Ministry of Health Samoa, with MFATNZ support.

Led by Taskforce Chair Tagaloa Dr Andrew Chan Mow (SSH Clinical Director) and Dame Dr Teuila Percival, the visit validated clinical scope, supervision models and placement readiness, and identified practical system opportunities.

Acknowledgement to DG (CEO) June Scanlan Lui, DDG Public Health Samoa Tagaloa Dr Robert Thomsen, the MoH Samoa Nursing Directorate (Acting Chief Nurse and Nurse Consultants), and MFATNZ for their coordination and support. Thank you to the team at Poutasi Hospital for your time in hosting our SSH Clinical Taskforce.

Focused delivery. Strong collaboration.

We also warmly congratulate all newly elected Fellows — your collective leadership in Pacific science, research, and innovation strengthens the resilience of our region.

Serving with both science and alofa, Dame Teuila’s legacy continues to inspire generations. We are incredibly proud.
