Who else is guilty of "midnight scrolling"?

It’s tempting to catch up on the day once the lights go out, but using your phone in a pitch-black room is one of the toughest things you can do to your eyes.

When the only light source in the room is your tiny screen, your eyes struggle to focus against the harsh contrast, which leads to Asthenopia (that fancy word for eye fatigue), blurred vision, and those annoying tension headaches the next morning.

Plus, research shows that intense blue light exposure in the dark can be even more disruptive to your circadian rhythm than using a phone in a well-lit room.

3 Quick Tips to Save Your Sight:
1. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
2. Use a soft warm lamp or even a "night light" to reduce the contrast.
3. Use your phone’s "Night Shift" or "Blue Light Filter" to shift the screen to warmer tones.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼-𝗳𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗵? 🤓

Sometimes the cloth gets so dirty you can see it. Or it even re-greases your lenses! All the dirt, dust and fat rubs off on the cloth. This is exactly what the cloth is made for. After a while it is so dirty it will not clean your glasses properly anymore. What to do about it?

There are many ways you can do this:

~ 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫
Simply shake out the dust and dirt.

~ 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐛𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝
Use cold water. Add a few drops of mild soap that is bleach free and which does not contain fabric softener. Let the cloth soak in the soap for a few minutes and then rinse it clean in cold water.

~ 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞
Use bleach free detergent, and it should be free from fabric softener. Let the cloth air dry when finished.

Washing the cloth regularly allows that you can reuse it. If you have a high quality cloth it should not be a problem to wash it multiple times. Washing opens the gaps between fibers so it will catch dust and dirt from your glasses again.

Peter's journey in optometry is impressive:

He qualified in South Africa way back in 1981 and practiced in the same Durban partnership for 25 years before moving his family to New Zealand in 2008.
