🌡️ Kids and Fever: What to Look For and How to Help

Fever can be worrying for any parent, but it is often a sign that your child’s body is fighting an infection. As we head into the warmer months and kids stay active, it is important to know when to watch, when to comfort, and when to get help.

🧡 Common signs of fever:
• A temperature over 38°C (oral) or over 37.5°C (ear)
• Flushed cheeks
• Irritability or crying
• Poor appetite
• Feeling tired or wanting extra sleep

💧 How to care for your child at home:
• Keep them hydrated with plenty of fluids
• Dress them in lightweight clothing
• Let them rest as much as needed
• Use a lukewarm bath to cool them gently
• Comfort them and monitor how they are feeling

Remember, you do not always need to treat a fever if your child is comfortable. Focus on how they are behaving rather than the number on the thermometer.

🚨 Seek medical advice if:
• Your child is under 3 months and has a temperature of 38°C or higher
• They have difficulty breathing
• They are unusually drowsy or unresponsive
• Fever lasts more than one day in children under 2
• Fever lasts more than three days in older children
• They develop a rash or have ongoing vomiting or diarrhoea

💧 What Exactly Is Dehydration? 💧
