What a week! We think we can all agree the world is feeling a little tough right now. Luckily, even in difficult times, there are people out there doing awesome mahi, reminding us that there's lots of good stuff going on too. And that's where our All Sorts of Awesome heroes come in!

Earlier in the week, we profiled George Kingi, a lay vaccinator and all-round awesome Aucklander. This Sunday, we're celebrating Toni Helleur and all the great things she does in her community. Toni not only volunteers with Neighbourhood Support (Māngere Connect), she also runs and co-founded a charity, I AM Māngere, where she works every day to helping connect her community to what they need to live their best possible lives – whether that's some kai, help writing a CV, support with WINZ or just a cup of coffee and a chat.

Teeth can yellow and dull over time for many reasons.

Teeth whitening works by removing surface (extrinsic) stain and stain that has been absorbed into the tooth enamel (intrinsic).

Whilst good dental hygiene can help remove extrinsic stain to some extent it can not remove the staining particles that get trapped within the tooth enamel.

When professional whitening gels are applied to the teeth both extrinsic and intrinsic stain can be removed restoring the teeth to their original whiteness.

The whitening agents typically contain hydrogen peroxide which penetrates the tooth enamel to oxidise and decompose stain and effectively bleach out the accumulated stain.
Whitening lights are used to accelerate and enhance the process.
More advanced lights utilise ultrasonic technology to vibrate the gel more effectively into the enamel pores and bleach out the staining particles that would otherwise remain trapped within the enamel.
Some lights also use Ionisation. Built in ionisation air filtration helps to create a healthier environment whilst negative ions also aid in oxidisation of the whitening gel.

The end result, a brighter, whiter and radiant smile.
