Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the principle that all the systems of the body are mapped out in reflex points on the feet, hands and ears. Reflexology is a well established holistic therapy which treats the mind and body as a whole to achieve a state of general well-being. An increasing number of people are using this safe, natural therapy as a way of relaxing and harmonising the body. I have completed two diplomas each in Reflexology and 'Anatomy and Physiology' and am a member of Reflexology New Zealand. All RNZ practitioners have satisfied important criteria in relation to professional knowledge, training and continued education, and are bound by the code of ethics and code of practice set down by Reflexology New Zealand. Your treatment will be undertaken within the premises of my school The Auckland School of Reflexology in the convenient suburb of Albany, Auckland, New Zealand.

I completely forgot to keep track of how many 500g pots of Tui Foot Balm I’ve used this year, and I am definitely not going to sit and count the hours of Reflexology I will have done by the time I stop for a break at the end of next week … It’s A LOT ‼️ 😆

Since the post on Saturday showing my Diploma in Reflexology students at the start of their Exam Day a couple of days have passed.

They are hopefully now feeling more relaxed than then, and I’m working my way through a pile of marking. 😅

Top priority was to get their exam results to them, so the top pile of papers is marked already. ✅

Now to enjoy reading through the pile of Case Study work already submitted by some of them.

A written exam paper in the morning, and a practical exam in the afternoon. 📝✋👣👂

A year of hard work and practice culminating in this day.

My first client today had a 30 min Indian Head Massage session so I thought I’d share a post about it.

IHM is a popular addition to many reflexologists practice, and forms a significant part of my business and teaching too. Yet, somehow I always seem to forget tell you about it. 🙄

As its name implies, Indian Head Massage has been developed from the traditional massage practices of India, and was developed by an Indian gentleman called Narendra Mehta. It’s official name is Indian Champissage.💆🏼‍♀️

Indian Head Massage is performed on the upper arms, upper back, shoulders, neck, head, face and ears. 💆🏻‍♂️

The primary aim of your Indian Head Massage treatment is relaxation. Indian Head Massage is applied fully clothed, however you may be required to remove any outer jackets to allow for a smoother massage. The treatment is performed seated in a normal chair, and no oils, balms or creams are used, and no other equipment is needed.

Indian Head Massage is non invasive and the entire process is gentle. Despite being gentle it is a powerful therapy that may be enjoyed as a stand alone session, or in conjunction with a reflexology treatment.

Right .... now, how about you book yourself a session with a practitioner near you ... if you’re not in my area that is. 😉

I’ve been quiet about Ear Reflexology for a little while, so I thought I’d bombard you with a big ear post today!

Did you know❓

Ear Reflexology uses nerve connections. It is a neurological intervention.

The ear is a very concentrated and busy area of nerve endings. It is innervated by cranial nerves and spinal nerves.

The points that you find on the ears are literally access points into these nerves, and the central nervous system. 🧠

Ear Reflexology works as a form of nerve ‘distraction’.

Every smaller part of the body can be mapped as a micro-system of the entire body. As we know there are micro-system maps of the body, all over the body - on the feet, hands, face, tongue, and more. The outer ear, includes an exact map of every part of the body.

The ear to brain connection is the shortest and most direct of these neurological micro-systems. That id the reason for the rapid response that people may experience following an Ear Reflexology session, or with the use of Ear Seeds. 😉

An important aspect of each reflexology session, for us practitioners, is noting the condition of our client’s feet.

This is not only to check any areas that we may need to avoid, for some reason, during the session. It is also a very enlightening window in to the general health of our client.

Anything we observe on the feet is not just a ‘foot thing’. In reflexology terms, its specific location, ie. the reflex area that it is found on, also alerts us to the implications in bodily terms.

Remember, it is NOT a diagnosis …. But, does provide a fabulous insight into possible imbalances in certain areas relating to organs or systems in the body.

These observations and therapeutic insights are often a great prompt for a conversation with our clients, as we learn about, and unravel the messages their feet are telling us.
