DUMBBELL ROWS FOR MID BACK
Think about pulling your shoulders down ⬇️ away from your ears, as you pull the shoulders back
This will allow the lower traps to perform its job and help stabilise the scapula by pulling it down as well as back
Notice that I’m performing the row with the shoulders, rather than pulling with my hands and just trying to pull my elbows right back. This allows me to perform the row with full range thru my shoulder and scapula without compromising the shoulder joint and driving the head of the humerus forward in the joint
Last thing to remember is to keep a neutral spine and control of your ribs - performing the row without hyper extending. If in doubt, ask a qualified trainer. We are here to help! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

HAMSTRING TENDINOPOTHY
Hamstring tendonopothy will present itself as pain in the proximal hamstring insertion at the ischium 💥
A lot of the time this can actually be remedied quite well when caught early enough with a properly thought out diagnosis and well planned rehabilitation 🙌🏼
Many times the hamstring has been overworked and overloaded due to inactive glute musculature on the same side as the hamstring pain
Simple function and strength tests should show whether you have inactive or weak musculature that support and stabilise the hip during dynamic loading
Simple progressions can then be made from isometric loading ➡️ to eccentric loading ➡️ to then more dynamic methods
A simple rule I use is to strategically work the weaker side 3x as much as the stronger side, in order to remedy the muscle imbalance as quick as possible. Remember to stop with the extra loading once muscle balance is within normal range!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
And remember, there are qualified professionals for a reason. Use them 😁

These 2 give me a reason to get up every morning. Happy birthday to my greatest achievement and the most amazing kids on the planet (only slightly biased)👯‍♀️🥰

Been getting asked by clients what’s best way to mitigate the holiday effect this season with Xmas and new year being the long summer holiday of the year for us in the Southern Hemisphere
You may have heard the old saying “abs are made in the kitchen” .
Think about making smarter choices this season and think about what you can and can not fit into your calorie budget if you’re worried about putting on body fat this silly season
I’ve found that tracking calories is a great tool and really keeps me in line these days. If you don’t think you have the time or ability to track your food then get professional help from someone like
I personally recommend Jake as he has helped me so much over the last few years and helped educate me to the point where I’m comfortable with keeping myself accountable these days but will always go back to him if I feel like I need help from someone with far more knowledge on the subject than myself
Once you change your mindset into the thinking of eating for your body composition goals and training in the gym to be strong and avoid injuries, the progression toward your goals become faster and easier. Remember, the biggest thing is adherence. So, if you can’t keep yourself accountable then hire someone who will

When it comes to pain, it's not always the point of pain which is the cause.
For example, if someone is getting pain in the left shoulder, it more often than not pays to first look at the hip, knee and ankle on the opposite side, as dysfunction usually shows up in a cross pattern on the body.
There are dysfunctions called upper cross and lower cross syndromes as the weak muscles and the tight muscles will be in an opposing cross from each other.
Strengthening the correct muscles and releasing the tight facilitated muscles is a good way to get back on track and getting pain free.
For more information or if you or someone you know is in pain and needs it sorted ASAP,call now and book a consult.
