Meet our NZ hydrosols, and why we now only stock local.

We recently made the call to stop importing hydrosols and now source exclusively from growers and distillers right here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

It means fresher product, less waste, a lower carbon footprint, and better traceability from plant to bottle. All of which matter to us (and we know matter to many of you too).

Yes, it meant letting go of a few long-time favourites from further afield, but we genuinely believe NZ hydrosols are world class, and we’re proud to support the people who make them.

🌲 Douglas Fir Essential Oil

One of our most beautiful (and often overlooked) essential oils.

With crisp citrus top notes layered over a smooth, resinous base, this essential oil captures the scent of Aotearoa’s wild forests in every drop. Grown in FSC®-certified forests on the South Island, it’s harvested from regenerating hedge-rows – meaning the trees aren’t felled, just gently trimmed on a 5-year rotation so they keep growing strong 🌿

The foliage is distilled within four hours of harvest at a custom-built in-forest distillery, using renewable energy from biomass woodchip (the same by-product from harvesting!). Not only is the distillery self-powered – it even produces surplus energy for nearby businesses.

Distilled using pristine artesian water and low-temp steam, the result is a fresh, clear, and true-to-nature aroma that’s third-party tested and bottled pure.
