Did you know that diabetes is the leading cause of preventable blindness in New Zealand?

This year the focus of is the effect diabetes has on eye health.
For many people living with diabetes, vision loss not only impacts their quality of life in the ways you expect but it limits their ability to perform day-to-day management of the disease such as administering insulin, monitoring glucose medications, and checking for feet and skin issues.
The Eyes on Diabetes campaign stresses the importance of eye tests at least every two years as a decline in sight is often associated with the progression of diabetes and early detection can reduce the risk of significant damage to the eyes.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here!

Every day 9 women in New Zealand will be diagnosed with breast cancer, meaning it is highly likely that someone in your life has been affected by this disease.
This month highlights the importance of TLC (Touch, Look, Check) and scheduling your regular mammograms if you're 45-69. Breast Cancer is most treatable when found early so make sure you know your normal and visit your doctor if you notice any changes.

1 in 8 kiwi blokes will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. This statistic is staggering but early detection saves lives.
The screening process is less invasive than many men expect, with a simple blood test to measure Prostate Specific Antigen levels and assess their risk.

Encourage the men in your life to take a proactive approach to prostate health and talk to their doctor today πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ
