New Zealand Dizziness and Balance Centre

New Zealand Dizziness and Balance Centre The NZDBC is New Zealand's most equipped centre specialising in dizziness and balance issues.

SERVICES

With an integrated service we are offering patients a centralised multi-disciplinary facility for diagnosis and care. The services on offer include everything from initial assessment through objective diagnosis to rehabilitation on the same day! ASSESSMENT

Initial assessment will be by experienced Neuro-Otologists and will be followed by directed investigations by the Vestibular Audiologist to allow confirmation of diagnosis and documentation of the degree and severity of the underlying problem. TESTS

The tests that will help us to conclude a diagnosis include:
- Full Diagnostic Audiogram
- Full VNG & Calorics
- VEMP
- Computerised Head Impulse
- ABR
- Computerised Dynamic Posturography

DIAGNOSIS

A diagnosis will then be made by the in house specialist surgeon. REHABILITATION

If Vestibular Rehabilitation is recommended, rehabilitative physiotherapy will occur on site in a specialised laboratory under the aegis of an Associate Professor of Physiotherapy, who has extensive experience in vestibular rehabilitation.

Enjoy Guy Fawkes but take care...
Did you know that the explosions of fireworks can reach sound levels of 150 decibels? That's loud! Long or repeated exposure to sounds at or above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss. Your children can still enjoy the beauty and the sounds of the fireworks without damaging their hearing. Protect your child’s hearing with earplugs--they won’t lessen the experience, but they will reduce the impact of excessive noise on young ears. For more information on how to protect your children’s ears, check out the following link fact: http://1.usa.gov/157hjAO .
