We recently bid a very fond farewell to Dr Miriam Duffy, our wonderful Registrar, who has completed her six-month placement with Hospice West Auckland.

Miriam was a real asset to our service. She brought kindness, warmth and genuine care to every interaction, along with an unwavering commitment to patient-centred care. She was a valued and much-loved member of the team, and built strong relationships with patients, whānau and colleagues alike.

Miriam shared this beautiful whakataukī at her farewell morning tea:
Ki te kotahi te kākoho, ka whati;
ki te kāpuia, e kore e whati.
When we stand alone we are vulnerable,
but together we are unbreakable.

She likened this whakataukī to her time spent here at Hospice West Auckland, a reminder that like a reed, when standing alone can bend and break, but standing together it is strong and united.

We are so grateful for the care Miriam shared with our patients and our service. We wish her all the best as she continues her medical journey.

Thank you, Farmers – and our amazing community! Once again the generosity of Farmers customers and staff has had a huge impact on Hospice West Auckland.

We’re proud to share that WestCity was Farmers’ highest-performing store in West Auckland, with LynnMall and NorthWest also achieving amazing results.

For an incredible 12 years, Farmers has supported Hospices across the country, raising more than $9.5 million since 2014 to help ensure compassionate end-of-life care remains free and accessible for patients and whānau.

To everyone who purchased a limited-edition bauble, made a donation, or took a moment to honour a loved one at the Tree of Remembrance – thank you! Your kindness has a real impact.

And to Farmers Trading Company Ltd and their incredible teams, thank you for your ongoing commitment to Hospice care. Together, we are supporting families when they need it most.

💛 Our volunteers make an incredible difference in so many ways.

One of these volunteers is Clayton, who uses his background in TV production to film patients’ life stories. This may include capturing memories, reflections, and recording special messages for future milestones. These videos become a deeply meaningful gift for families, to treasure for years to come.
