Good morning, afternoon or evening folks.
Well, here we go again. Once more into the breach dear friends, once more.
The good news is that we are not going into a collective lockdown this time. However, I do expect that many of us will have to isolate, sequester, imprison or otherwise restrict our ability to operate in normal society at some stage over the next few weeks. It is inevitable and, regardless of what some in government and society would have you believe, unavoidable.
So, what does that mean for us here at The Workshop Gym?
Not much changes actually. We have been operating at the Red Light level from the time we left lockdown in November.
I thought carefully about what the rules, restrictions and challenges would be as we moved back and forth between levels and then set up my operating plan accordingly to avoid as much disruption to our routines as possible. (It is just a shame that those in charge didn’t have the same information that I did.)
-Classes will still operate as they have been with bookings essential and onsite and online operating simultaneously. For wet days we still have the option of limited numbers in the studio as well as online and for the hardier souls I am happy to accommodate them in the carpark as well, so there really is no excuse to miss out on your training.
-Weights room is bookings only and numbers are restricted. The room will be locked unless there are bookings and if you have fallen into the habit of booking at the last minute then you may find yourself locked out until I get back from coffee so please plan ahead. Further to that, the after hours access key will be removed until we return to Orange and operating hours will be strictly adhered to. Check the website for times. If the space is overbooked at any stage, I will limit training time to 45 minutes and bump the last to book.
I do have to remind you all of the rules though as things have dropped off a little lately.
-Masks are to be worn upon entering and leaving the space.
-Strict social distancing protocols are in place and members etc are required to maintain a minimum of 1.5 metres distance at all times. Be aware of the direction of your breath and try to avoid facing each other when your heart rate is elevated. I do realise that many of you may be mingling outside of the gym but please refrain from hugging, touching and otherwise interacting in a physical manner whilst in the gym areas.
-Fans are NOT to be used at any time.
-Scan into each area you visit i.e Weights room - QR code is on the notice board and the desk, Studio - QR code is at the doorway. Scanning is required for outdoor classes also.
-Please refrain from using the gym if you are feeling unwell. This should go without saying but say it I must.
-Equipment is to be wiped down after use. In the weights room please clean each piece immediately and do not wait until you have finished your workout. This also means that if you are super-setting a couple of exercises then you need to set yourself up in the smallest possible area and avoid moving across the gym between exercises. If this is not possible then either talk to one of the trainers about alternative options or complete one movement before moving. There are 5 cleaning stations in the weights room, please use the one closest to you.
This is a challenging time for many and exercise is essential for our mental health as well as our physical health so please treat each other with respect and consideration.
Lots to digest and yet, it should be the same old for most of you that have been training for a while.
We are here to help so please feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns and I will try my best to assist.
There will be a newsletter coming out soon (It was going to be today but this kind of took precedence.) so keep your eyes peeled as there is important information within.
If you get locked down and require supplies, please do not hesitate to ask as I know that I will make the most of having people delivering food to my doorstep should I be excluded.
Oh yeah, If I get locked down then online and carpark classes may still operate providing I am not in hospital. I will yell at you from the upstairs window instead.
Peace and health my friends.
John
