A beautiful day indeed in Auckland, as close family and friends gathered to witness the unveiling of Kasi’s headstone at Purewa Cemetery. It was a reunion of sorts with brother Lepani (Tuks), wife Sophie and sons Kasiano and Julius traveling from the north of England to attend. Also attending from the UK was Kasi’s best mate Andy McGrory. Sister Mele came from Suva, Fiji, brothers Ioane Jnr from Brisbane and Sakiusa from Sydney whilst Nana came from Townsville. Sister-in-law Thorndyke and her two daughters Hera and Payton also flying in from Brisbane. Father-in-law Tim travelled from near Hamilton as did the Sing cousins Julian, Manasa & family, Pauline, hubby Peceli & son Zack! Kasi’s Air New Zealand mates came along too as did Troydyn’s work mates Alexis & Paige and very good friends Petra & family. Kasi’s aunts the Tagilala twins Jo & Ruthie graced us with their presence as did Tavale Bale, who essentially co-hosted the gathering. Former neighbors were happy to attend mentioning how Kasi had greatly impacted their lives. Other family and friends attended upon the invitation of Troydyn, the boys and Beryl.
After the unveiling, where Kasi’s Nana read some Scripture and said a prayer, everyone were invited to a sumptuous spread at the residence in Greenlane. Thank you very much Troydyn, Semi, Ioane & Beryl for having us all! 🥰 🙏🏾

Kasi to some. Kasiano on his birth certificate. BK to others. Dad to his kids. Kasiano Atafaiva Brian Raturaga took his step into the Great Unknown on the 5th of April, 2023. Not long after, his former rugby club in the UK Broadsheet RFC announced that they would be holding the Kasiano 3 Way Rugby

As December comes around, we honour and reminisce our dear Kasi. 🥹🎄❤️‍🩹

This photo was taken during our first “Rugrats” Family reunion that he and Troydyn hosted in Auckland for Christmas 2013.

We miss his laughter, his cooking, his fatherly love and care towards his family and friends, the energy he brought towards sharing a story or two with his sarcastic witty humour! 😆🥲

Grief is the price we pay for having truly loved. ❤️‍🔥

Rest in Love BK 🕊️

“It’s okay to be thankful, grateful, and grieving all at the same time. More than one thing can be true, especially during the holiday season.

While we gather to celebrate the blessings in our lives, it's natural to also feel the weight of loss, uncertainty, or heartache. The holidays can be a complex mix of joy and sorrow, and it's important to allow space for both.

In the midst of giving thanks, we can also honor what we've lost or are still working through.
This season, let's remember that it's okay to hold multiple emotions at once, and that embracing all parts of our experience-whether they're filled with gratitude or grief-can help us heal and grow.” ~ Natasha Smith
