Our next Waiheke Community Herbalism course starts soon! The summer session runs for 5 weeks every Tuesday through February.

If you would like to learn how to make simple remedies for everyday wellness, come and join a network of like-minded people as we learn how to harness the power of plants together.

This course will deepen your awareness of medicinal plants growing underfoot and help you understand their benefits. We’ll forage, harvest, help you plan your garden, teach you simple and effective herbal remedies and make nutritious food.

What: Summer session of Waiheke Community Herbalism—with medical herbalist and Ayurvedic practitioner Nicole Bostock and distiller/aromatic consultant Jill Mulvaney.

The Alembics Lab is open 9am–4pm every week day this January.

We have stocked the shelves with soothing botanical balms, hydrating gels and delicious herbal honeys, teas and elixirs.

Come on down and see what we are making, catch a live distillation and stock up on some of our hand-made, small batch aromatic products.

Looking for something to do? Come to one of our botanical workshops this January!

Led by distiller Jill Mulvaney and medical herbalist Nicole Bostock, our summer plant sessions take you on a deep dive into a single plant or botanical family. Covering common (and sometimes uncommon) usage as food, medicine, perfume and more—through ancient to modern times.

These are hands-on workshops where you'll get to expand your knowledge and usage of these aromatic plants.

Friday open day tomorrow at the Lab! Come and pick up some special Christmas gifts and see what we are making.

Tomorrow there'll be two live distillations—first is the vibrant blue German chamomile essential oil (as used in our 'Calm' range) Can you see the blue tinge of the chamazulene in the hydrosol's mister tube?

We also have our famous 'Blue' tea, featuring the magical colour-changing butterfly pea. This is a fun gift for kids—we put some in their lemonade and watch it change from a deep inky blue to a blushing pink. Plus herbal honeys, and an array of balms, creams and soothing gels.

And Jill will be distilling a Christmas gin to give to our clients and friends—come and have a taste!

We've added some new things for you to try tomorrow—a beautiful cooling rose hydrosol, our 'Pink' apothecary tea, as well as delicious rose honeys and elixirs. This is alongside our range of calming chamomile products too.

The stills will be running too—perhaps another elderflower and rose distillation? Come on down and see!
