We have been following the inspirational journey of jonoridler and itsliveocean quest to swim the length of the East Coast of the North Island, solo and unassisted, to bring an end to bottom trawling on our Shores.

Jono started his amazing feat back on the 5th Jan, entering the water at North Cape and will swim down the entire East Coast to Wellington - a journey that will take a gruelling 3 months.

The toll on the body and mental strength to do this day in and day out is absolutely phenomenal - all for the benefit of us and our future generations to enjoy our stunning oceans.

The kids were starstruck when we had a chance to meet him on his break between swims at Lang Beach. Having heroes like Jono for kids to watch, meet and aspire to is gold. What a champion!
