What is runner’s knee?
One of the main symptoms of runner’s knee is pain towards the front of the knee, often behind the kneecap. It usually starts off quite dull and gets worse during activity. It is one of the most common issues we discuss and treat our patients within our practices.
Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), which is the technical name, can be caused by many different factors which is why it is important to get a professional opinion to help you with the correct rehabilitation program.
Don’t let it stop you doing what you love. Get back in motion today!

So you’ve become a lockdown runner? That’s a good thing!
Running has quickly grown in popularity as we’ve dealt with lockdowns impacting gyms and community sport.
Running is one of the most effective ways to stay active and maintain good health but it can also be the cause of an injury if you’re not careful.
Some of the most common running injuries we see are, runner’s knee, achilles tendinopathy and shin splints and these are usually brought on by too much load, too quickly.
If you’ve picked up an injury from running, consult a physio to help you identify the issue. Don’t let injuries hold you back!

What exactly are "long-term" injuries?
Long term injuries are those injuries that seem to keep coming back, no matter how much we rest it. These often start out as a minor injury that then snowballs into a more serious condition over time, because the initial injury wasn't treated properly. Long-term injuries are actually more common than acute injuries, but can also be more difficult to treat than acute injuries, due to being left untreated for extended periods of time. If you’ve got an injury that has been bothering you for a while, come in and have a chat with a physiotherapist! To learn more about long term injuries, check out our blog! https://www.motionhealth.co.nz/.../long-term-injuries...
