Disability Climate Updatation Hui ♿🌏
with Auckland Council 💬

Through the changes in our climate
floods
heatwaves
storms
power outages

are our disability communities being looked after?

Short answer: No.

But that’s exactly why we’re here
to make a difference. 💪

We have funding available to support disability-led community projects that strengthen the para-govt model of response for our disability whānau.

💭 How do you think we can better support our community in:

🌊 Floods?
🔥 Heatwaves?
🌪️ Storms?
⚡ Power outages?

Do you know how to support yourself
or
your fellow community members in a climate crisis?

Xabilities wants to help make knowledge accessible so everyone knows what to do when climate changes strike.

If you have ideas 💡
big or small
we’d love to hear them.

Your thoughts could shape how we prepare, protect, and respond together. 💕

Medication I wish I knew about earlier…

Bare skin on the ground – it’s more than grounding - it’s medication 💊

It releases free electrons that act as natural antioxidants, reducing stress and inflammation.

Doing this regularly helps with sensory regulation, especially for:

👶🏽 young children
💕 neurodivergent individuals
💫 sensitive nervous systems

✨ Personal note:

My autism and chronic pain (fibromyalgia) have shifted so much from doing this daily

it’s changed my pain levels, calmed my nervous system, and helped me connect better with others.
