🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka:
Energy: High energy
Date: 1 April

Today’s moon brings high energy, which can feel intense in the body especially for neurodivergent people.

You might notice:
• Sensory overload
• Overthinking
• Increased pain or fatigue
• Restlessness in the body

This is your reminder that movement is medicine on high-energy days.

🌿 Advice

• Move your body to release built-up energy

• Go for a hīkoi (walk) to calm your mind

• Stretch or do gentle exercise

• Use movement to support chronic pain

• Step away from sensory-heavy spaces if need be

• Let your body guide how much is enough

Working with the Maramataka helps you understand when to move, when to rest, and how to support your nervous system naturally.

✨ We’re also celebrating our recent Autism Awareness Wānanga over 150 people educated so far, with more events happening this week across our communities.

🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka: Atua Whakahaehae
Energy: Balanced energy
Date: 31 March

Today’s moon Atua Whakahaehae brings a steady, balanced energy a perfect time for journaling and self-reflection.

This is your reminder to soften your inner voice.
Remove the words “you have to”…
and replace them with choice, awareness, and compassion.

You don’t have to be anything other than yourself.

🌿 Advice

• Journal your thoughts without judgement
• Reflect on your inner language
• Replace “I have to” with “I choose to”
• Observe where pressure is coming from
• Allow yourself to move at your own pace
• Be gentle with your expectations

When we release pressure and ableist thinking, we create space to exist as we are, not who we think we should be.

✨ Today I’m at Heartland Farm in Foxton, a beautiful space supporting neurodivergent people through connection with animals — and yes, you’ll meet Alfie 🐾

✨ We’re also heading to our next Wānanga Takiwātanga in Shannon, continuing this kaupapa of lived experience, connection, and education across our communities.

🌿 Advice

• Drink plenty of wai (water)
• Nourish your body with kai (food)
• allow yourself to reduce pressure
• Flow with your natural rhythm
• Prepare your body for the upcoming full moon energy

The goal isn’t to rush or do more

🌿✨ A moment that will stay with us forever…

On the 27th of March, Xabilities had the honour of standing alongside Youth and Transition for the opening of their sensory garden a space created with deep intention, care, and aroha for rangatahi navigating complex emotions and end-of-life thoughts.

We were invited to bless this whenua…
and you could feel it this wasn’t just a garden.

This was a space to breathe again.
A space to feel safe in your own body.
A space to remember who you are.

Because not everyone is ready to talk.
And sometimes… words aren’t where healing begins.

🌿
A sensory garden meets you where you’re at.

It doesn’t ask you to explain yourself.
It doesn’t rush your process.
It simply offers presence.

The feeling of grass under your feet.
The sound of leaves moving in the wind.
The warmth of the sun on your skin.
The scent of earth grounding you back into the moment.

And in that moment… your nervous system begins to soften.

✨ Research shows sensory environments can:
• Reduce anxiety and emotional overwhelm
• Support nervous system regulation
• Improve mood and sense of safety
• Encourage mindfulness without pressure
• Create connection through the body when words feel too much

This is what makes spaces like this so powerful
they offer another doorway to healing.

Not instead of therapy…
but sometimes before it.

🌙
This garden is for the quiet moments.
For the in-between spaces.
For the days where just being here is enough.

To Youth and Transition thank you for holding our rangatahi with such care, dignity, and intention. The work you do creates real pathways for connection, regulation, and hope within our communities.

And to every young person who will sit in this space…
You are still here.
And that matters more than anything.

Maramataka: Huna
Energy: Low energy
Date: 29 March

Today’s moon Huna brings a gentle, low energy a time to prioritise self-care and nurture your tinana (body).

When you align with this natural rhythm, your day can feel more clear, steady, and manageable.

🌿 Advice

• Nourish your body with kai (food)
• Drink plenty of wai (water)
• don’t rush your day
• Speak kindly to yourself
• Prioritise rest where you can
• Care for your tinana like it’s your most important home

You don’t need to do everything
just care for yourself while doing what matters.

🌿 Pahiatua Marae we’re coming your way 🌿

This Sunday the 29th, we’re gathering for something truly special…

A space of whanaungatanga, connection, and real kōrero where we come together to understand autism through the lived experiences of our tamariki.

This isn’t just an event.
It’s a moment to listen, to learn, and to feel.

To hear the stories that don’t always get told.
To gain tools that actually support our whānau.
To stand together in aroha and understanding.

There will be laughter, there may be tears
but most importantly, there will be connection ❤️

✨ Whether you’re a parent, educator, professional, or community member this space is for you.

Let’s grow safer, stronger, more understanding communities together.

🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka: Tamatea-tū-hāhā
Energy: Unpredictable energy
Date: 27 March

Today’s moon Tamatea-tūhāhā brings unpredictable energy but that doesn’t mean things will go wrong.

Unpredictable doesn’t mean losing control…
it means learning to let go.

This is a day to soften, relax, and move with an
“it is what it is” mindset.

🌿 Advice

• Let go of trying to control everything
• Relax your body and mind
• Breathe through unexpected moments
• Allow things to unfold naturally
• Trust that things will work out

When you resist unpredictable energy, things can feel like they’re falling apart.
When you allow it, things begin to flow.

Today isn’t about forcing
it’s about trusting and letting go.

🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka: Tamatea Kaiariki
Energy: Unpredictable energy
Date: 26 March

Today’s moon Tamatea Kaiariki brings shifting, unpredictable energy a reminder to let go of control rather than fight against what is.

This is a day to go with the flow, soften your thinking, and move with aroha for yourself and others.

🌿 Advice

• Let go of needing to control outcomes

• Go for a hīkoi (walk) before making decisions

• Practice patience with yourself and others

• Lead with aroha and self-care

• Trust that changes are happening for you

Not everything needs to be figured out today.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is allow and trust.

🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka: Tamatea-ananga
Energy: Unpredictable energy
Date: 25 March

Today’s moon Tamatea-a-Ranginanga brings unpredictable energy but this isn’t about instability… it’s about learning to dance with the unknown.

When we let go and allow things to flow, chaos can become something beautiful and guiding, rather than overwhelming.

This is an “it is what it is” kind of day where your power comes from how you respond, not what happens.

🌿 Advice

• Go for a hīkoi (walk) to calm overthinking

• Drink water with a karakia to clear your mind

• Ground your bare feet on the whenua

• Breathe and allow emotions to pass

• Let go of control and flow with the day

• what triggers you let it go today, this will also shows where healing is needed

Days like this can reveal deeper layers within us.
When you become aware of what you struggle to let go of, you begin to see what needs healing.

Trust yourself.
Trust the flow.
You are learning how to move with life, not against it.

Maramataka: Tamatea-āio
Energy: Unpredictable energy
Date: 24 March

Today’s moon Tamatea-āio brings unpredictable energy but unpredictable doesn’t mean unstable.

It means things may shift, change, or arrive unexpectedly…
for you, not against you.

This is a day to release control and trust the journey you are on.

🌿 Advice

• Let go of needing to control everything

• Breathe through moments of stress

• Allow emotions and reactions to pass

• Stay grounded in the present moment

• Trust your wairua and inner guidance

• Flow with what the day brings

Even when things don’t go to plan, there is purpose in it.

Our Wānanga Takiwātanga at Orewa Marae was nothing short of incredible 🌿

A space filled with laughter, tears, deep reflection, and powerful education around autism takiwātanga.

We came together as whānau, as community, to listen, to learn, and to understand the lived experiences behind the label.

There were moments of vulnerability, moments of connection, and moments that reminded us why this kaupapa matters so deeply.

This is more than awareness this is about creating safer, more understanding spaces for our neurodivergent whānau across Aotearoa.

A HUGE thank you to Orewa Marae for always creating such a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for our people 🤍

And this is only the beginning…
We’re taking this kaupapa across the motu 🌏

📍 Upcoming North Island tour locations:

So much aroha in one room 🤍
Aroha nui to everyone who showed up, held space, and shared in this journey.

This wouldn’t be possible without Spectrum Foundation and community support.
