Today’s focus for Mental Health Awareness Week is GIVE - giving can make others feel great, and us as givers too.

Today at Swanson Medical we were gifted some delicious homemade chocolate fudge by a patient, and nurse Monica’s lovely Nana donated some gorgeous wee knitted dolls to comfort our young patients. We’re very lucky and will be thinking of how to ‘pay it forward’.

I’m thinking I might bake something for my kids’ teachers tonight! 🧁

It's day two of Mental Health Awareness Week! We hope that you found time to connect /me whakawhanaunga yesterday. Our Top Up Together theme for Rātū (Tuesday) is give / tukua. 💚

Today is all about kindness. Sharing acts of kindness and your time with others can strengthen relationships and create a ripple effect of positivity.

Show us how you’re topping up together today by using the hashtag and be in to win a $200 Prezzy card 💸! Terms and conditions apply. Tap the link 🔗 in our bio to find inspiration on how you can give today.

This week is Mental Health Awareness week. Today’s focus is CONNECT - is there someone you can connect with today? We all have friends or family members we have been meaning to catch up with, let’s pick up the phone and make that call.

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and we’re encouraging you to Top Up Together as you bring the Five Ways to Wellbeing into your daily life. Connect / Me Whakawhanaunga is the Top Up Together theme for Rāhina (Monday).

Social connection is the ngākau/heart of our wellbeing. It weaves us together, making us feel seen, heard, and understood. When we nurture meaningful connections with others, we uplift our own well-being.

Our very own Dr Mike Jenkin has organised a screening of a special film, “The Doctor’s Wife” at Te Pou Theatre, Corban Estate in Henderson on Sunday 5th of October. Some of our patients were cared for by Dr Alan Kerr, a retired heart surgeon. Alan’s wonderful wife Hazel was a nurse and a dance teacher in West Auckland. The film highlights Hazel’s work with kids with PTSD in Gaza and the West Bank, and Alan’s medical work there and is quite an insight into the humanity of everyday Palestinians prior to 2022.

Alan and Hazel will be at the event for a Q and A session after the screening of the film.

The tickets themselves are free via the QR code on the poster above. Any koha recieved is split between aid in Palestine and the filmmaker Paula Whetu Jones.

You can also register for tickets via the website: (just scroll down to the Te Pou Theatre event)
