This made me SO excited this week...

The new Healthy Food Pyramid released by the US Department of Agriculture is a massive shift - in the right direction!

✨ Real food is finally front and centre
✨ Protein, dairy & healthy fats have been moved up to the top of pyramid (YES 🙌)
✨ Protein recommendations are significantly higher than before — nearly double previous guidelines
✨ Carbohydrates are no longer the foundation and make up a much smaller proportion overall
✨ There’s even recognition that low-carb eating is one of the most effective approaches for people with chronic illness

Today's quote is a goodie:

Weight loss can be difficult. Emotional. Frustrating. And it’s totally OK to admit that.

But here’s another way to think about it:

As challenging as it may be, it is still a journey we get to choose.
We have options.
We have choices.
We have the ability to take action.

I often think about people who receive serious health diagnoses... people who don’t have choices, who aren’t in control of their destiny in the same way.

If you’re on a weight loss journey, it means your body is still giving you the opportunity to change, to improve, to feel better.

You may not be where you want to be yet.
But today, you can do something about it.

And that is something to be very happy for.🥰

One small choice. One action. One day at a time!

December and 2025: That's a wrap!
What a year.....as always it feels like it has gone so fast. I've absolutely loved meeting lots of great people this year and seeing some fantastic results!
My highlights:
- Weekly launch for my 4-week Foundations of Fat Loss programme and helping so many women get on track with a simple and delish low carb plan
- starting my podcast: Why Weight?, Start Now! Launching a podcast has been on my goal list for 4 years so I'm so pleased I finally did it.
- In person events focusing on nutrition and exercise with the wonderful Ange Hilliam, and my talks at Orewa library and Community Centre
- Events: emotional eating challenge, the Spring Reset bundle and Fix the Food Noise.
- the Spring Reset Challenge 6-week nutrition plan I created, in conjunction with Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre
- New 30-day Mindset and Weight loss programme created and launched, with amazing hypnotherapist, Daryl Gove. This 30|10 Reset is the most comprehensive mindset plan I've ever created and I'm so excited to share this programme in 2026
- I've created 11 new Fat Loss Acceleration Protocols for all the members of Why Weight Academy, as well as my most popular programme, the 14-day Countdown to Christmas plan in December.
Phew! It's been fantastic, and I'm super excited to now be working on a brand new programme that I will be launching in Feb 2026. Watch this space.

While we're on holiday break we wanted to have a special dinner, so we made 'roll your own' sushi :) It was easy to keep this one low carb....lots of veges and fresh protein, and of course I just skipped the rice 🥰. Easy and delicious - and another example of how easy it is to keep your carbs really low and still enjoy a special meal with the family 👊🙌
