Do you know what this reading tells me? It’s what my ketone levels were in my last long fast. This means that my body was burning fat as a fuel source and not glucose. And I could totally tell, I felt a sort of buzz in my body and my brain felt on fire. This excites me so much, being able to measure this to see that it’s working!

Ketosis happens when your body gets the chance to switch from burning glucose to burning fat. If we’re constantly eating (especially carbs), the body doesn’t really need to make ketones – so it never learns to metabolically switch. Our bodies are honestly miraculous.

I get told this a lot! Women have much more respect for themselves and what they put into their bodies.

This is what can happen when you take food out of the equation for a period of time.

Cravings can disappear, you get a lot more energy, your sleep improves, you think more kindly towards yourself, so when it comes to the food you put in your body, you're more consciously about it. The biggest thing, you start to feel amazing!

"I used to numb with alcohol, online shopping and sugar".

Kate is 63 and postmenopausal. When she started, she told me:

Why me? Why am I running this workshop series?

I’m a Mum, just like you might be. I’ve got three kids, a husband, a dog, and we’re a pretty normal 😉 family. We’ve had our ups and downs over the years, and I’ve shared a lot of that openly because real life is real life.

I'm not doing this because I think I’m perfect, or because I’ve got it all figured out. I'm doing it because I’ve always been passionate about my health… and when something stops working, I go looking for better answers.

That’s exactly what happened when I hit perimenopause. What I was doing used to work… and suddenly it didn’t anymore.

So I delved deep. I listened, I learnt, I studied – and it led me to Dr Mindy’s work. It made so much sense that I ended up becoming certified as a Fast Like a Girl Coach, trained under Dr Mindy herself.

Now, I’m not here to tell you fasting is a miracle cure or some magic wand that fixes everything. For some women there are underlying challenges that matter.

And I also know there are people who say midlife women “shouldn’t fast.” If what you’re doing is working and you feel good, keep going, honestly.

But if it’s not… if you’re sitting there thinking, “I don’t know what to do anymore, but I don’t want to keep feeling like this”… then maybe it’s worth learning a new tool.

For me, it’s been a game-changer. I’m more stable, my moods are consistent, I’m sleeping sooo well, I feel strong and fit (thanks to actually prioritising strength training), I’ve got energy, I’m at my ideal weight… and I genuinely feel amazing at 52.

The best part? It’s not about fancy supplements, shakes, strict eating plans, or spending thousands. It’s about tuning into the innate wisdom of your body, and understanding how it’s designed to work.

So many of us have spent years doing the “right thing”… ticking boxes… looking after everyone else… and thinking I’ll feel happy once I’ve done enough.

But real change doesn’t come from trying to get approval.
It comes from backing yourself.

Getting in line with what your body’s asking for, what matters to you, and what actually makes you feel alive.

And just a reminder – choosing your joy isn’t selfish.
You don’t need permission. You just need to decide. ❤️

Well… it’s official 🎉

I’ve gone a full year without a period, which means I’m now officially postmenopausal!!!!

And honestly? I’m so excited. I never thought I'd be this excited!!

I know that might sound weird because menopause is usually painted as such a bit of a s**tty time… but my experience has been 'reasonably' smooth. Not because I’m “lucky”… but because I didn’t just sit there and hope for the best – I went looking for tools that actually work.

And I’m certain of this: if I hadn’t done that, my ride could’ve been a whole lot harder.

I now know things are going to get a lot easier. And that I'm grateful for.

And I want to say something that I wish I'd heard more:

Menopause doesn’t have to be the doom and gloom everyone makes it out to be!

Think of it as your third act – your chance to back yourself, to stop people-pleasing, to not give a s**t what people think, to do what you want to do and not what you've done for everyone else for years!

But here’s the thing: it's not necessarily that easy to get to that place and you might be still searching for the tools that work.

Fasting worked for me.

That’s why I’m running a FREE workshop series, "Your First Fast, for women 40+, kicking off Tues, 27th Jan, 8pm".

Not a 3-day fast – a practical education series to teach you how fasting works for your age and stage of life, how to do it safely, and how to use it as a tool for energy, cravings, bloat and weight management/loss.
