At Studio Three, we’re not chasing the burn for the sake of it. And while a good muscle shake can feel satisfying, the bigger picture is always about intelligent movement.

We're big on poses that allow for isometric muscle contractions, for example - when a muscle is working under load but not changing length. You’ll find them everywhere in Pilates. Holding a bridge on the Reformer. Maintaining stillness in a lunge. Sustaining Chair in Barre. Staying steady in a plank.

These moments might look simple, but they’re doing important work.

Isometric training builds strength and joint stability in a controlled, low-impact way. It supports muscular endurance, helps improve coordination between muscle groups, and even has benefits for heart health and blood pressure when practised consistently.

This is why our focus isn’t just on “feeling the burn.”
It’s about building a body that’s balanced, resilient, and capable - now and long term.

We love our Reformers (and we know you do too), but Pilates was never meant to be just one piece of equipment.... Joseph Pilates designed the full system across multiple Pilates aparatus - the Reformer is just one of those!

With that said, we’ve got exciting plans for the new year… 👀

We're planning to offer Mat, Reformer, Cadillac & Chair to work together in training the body for balance, control, and flow.

✨ New Sunday Jumpboard Class ✨

We’re excited to introduce a dedicated Reformer Jumpboard class with Deb, starting Sunday 15th Feb at 11am. This class will replace our open level session, adding more variety and movement options to our Sunday line-up.
Reformer Jumpboard is a fun, joint friendly, low impact Pilates Reformer class that infuses an element of cardio to get your heart pumping and improve cardiovascular endurance. Great for bone density, full body strength and coordination. Suitable for all levels. We recommend a private session or foundation level class first for those completely new to Reformer Pilates.

A warm welcome to our latest Studio Three instructor… Liana!
With over 25 years movement experience across Dance, Yoga, Feldenkrais & functional movement she is the perfect fit for our Reformer stretch! Liana is currently completing the highly acclaimed Polestar Pilates comprehensive certification which is a 450+ hours qualification!
She will be taking our new Friday 10.30am Stretch & Flow, which, due to popular request, is replacing the OPEN LEVEL REFORMER class.

Our Reformer Stretch & Flow strikes the perfect balance of a slower intentional Pilates flow which allows space to pause and focus your breath to assist and extend your stretch. This class combines mobility and flexibility and is suitable for all levels.

A private session is recommended prior for anyone struggling with injuries or just wanting to familiarise themselves with the Reformer.

Recipe of the month ⭐️⭐️

Spiced Apricot, Rocket & Feta Salad

⏱ Prep: 15 mins (+ cooling) | Cook: 5 mins
🍽 Serves 4–6

You’ll need:
• 2 Tbsp olive oil
• 1 garlic clove, crushed
• 1 tsp ground coriander
• 1 tsp ground cumin
• 8 just-ripe apricots, halved & stoned
• 75g baby rocket
• 1 long red chilli, deseeded & finely sliced
• 75g Greek feta, crumbled
• ⅓ cup roasted almonds, roughly chopped
• Extra virgin olive oil, to serve
• Salt & cracked pepper

Method:
1️⃣ Mix olive oil, garlic, coriander & cumin. Toss apricots through the spice mix and stand for 10 mins.
2️⃣ Heat a greased BBQ or char-grill to medium-high. Grill apricots for 2–3 mins each side until lightly charred. Set aside to cool.
3️⃣ Scatter apricots with rocket, chilli, feta & almonds. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, season, and serve.

• Rich in dietary fibre for gut health
• Deep colour = more beta-carotene (vitamin A for vision)
• A good source of vitamin C to help iron absorption
