Neuro-Affirming Futures Neuro-affirming services and support from a neurodivergent therapist. Supervsion

Kia ora, I’m Abi Raymond (she/her/ai), a neurodivergent, queer counsellor, arts therapist, and neurodiversity advocate. My area of focus is supporting Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, Neurodivergent, Queer and Neuroqueer individuals through neurodivergent-affirming practice. My approach draws on two decades of professional clinical experience, training, and research, alongside my lived experience as a multi

ply neurodivergent professional and mother. I provide client/whānau centred, practical support that is both neuro-affirming and rainbow-affirming from an intersectional lens. I advocate for neuro-inclusive practices in my work alongside parents, whānau, schools, professionals and organisations. As Pākeha and Tangata Tiriti, I uphold Tiriti o Waitangi principles and advocate for restorative systems change and a Tiriti-based Aotearoa . I hold full professional membership with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) and the Australian, New Zealand, and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA), and I am an approved professional supervisor for both organisations.

🌿 New Kōrero Video 🌿

This powerful kōrero with Abi Raymond (she/her/ai) is a must-watch this month as it aligns so beautifully with Principle 6: Cultural, Historical, and Gender issues. Abi brings lived experience and deep professional insight as a neurodivergent, q***r counsellor and arts therapist, challenging us to reframe how we understand neurodiversity and inclusion.

🔍 Instead of forcing individuals to conform to neurotypical or gender-normative expectations, Abi advocates for changing the environment — creating space where every identity, culture, and way of being is honoured.

💬 Her whakaaro deeply aligns with Principle 6, which calls us to move beyond bias and stereotype, offer culturally responsive and gender-affirming support, and work toward systems that embrace difference, not erase it.

What does it really mean to be neuro-affirming?
In our latest kōrero, Abi Raymond reminds us that true inclusion requires embracing the full spectrum of identity:

✨ “To be neuro-affirming, you must be q***r-affirming.”
This conversation is rich with wisdom on supporting neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities with integrity and heart.

Kia ora koutou,

We have 4 spaces left in this very special workshop on the 1st of March in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Te Tiriti in Practice Workshop - 1 day
A call to action: Moving towards restorative systems change and a Tiriti-based Aotearoa.

We are excited to invite you to a transformative one-day workshop designed to deepen our collective capacity for reflection and meaningful action towards restorative systems change in Aotearoa.
Facilitated by Rebecca and Louise from the Pakeha Project and hosted by Abi Raymond of Neuro-Affirming Futures.

This workshop will explore our roles as pākeha and our relationship to decolonisation and Te Tiriti O Waitangi. To move beyond colonial patterns of thinking, we must disrupt our current binary operating systems. Navigating these complex intersections of power, racism, colonialism and privilege cannot be done with intellect alone.

Underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the workshop will provide an interactive, trauma-informed experience. Our facilitators are skilled in helping participants navigate the emotional terrain necessary to engage with challenging and uncomfortable material. You will be supported throughout as we explore practical ways, we can each contribute to building a more equitable and restorative society in Aotearoa.

What to Expect:

- Deep reflection and meaningful discussion on colonisation, racism, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

- Practical tools and strategies for engaging in restorative actions
Emotional support and guidance in navigating challenging conversations

-A collaborative, healing environment for all participants
Ongoing community of practice

- We welcome you to be a part of this important journey toward systems change, ensuring that all can flourish.

The purpose of this workshop is to spark more than just a one-day event, it is the beginning of an ongoing journey. In a time when the need for such change has never been more urgent, we are excited to embark on this collective journey with you.

Please RSVP ASAP by following the registration link to secure your place.

When: Saturday the 1st of March 2025 - 9:30am-4:30pm
Where: Independent Living, 14 Erson Ave, Royal Oak, Auckland
Cost: $295 (Including GST)

Following the workshop there will be an optional koha community dinner to further connect and reflect. We have 4 spaces left.
