Next up on our live webinar programme:
"Addiction and grief in practice: Supporting whānau through loss, ambiguity, and ongoing connection"
Tuesday April 28th.

Join us in this interactive webinar, where we'll explore the complex nature of addiction, how it affects not only the individual but also their whanau, friends, and communities.
We will explore the often overlooked experience of grief in relation to active addiction.
Participants will be guided through culturally grounded frameworks and practical tools to deepen understanding, foster connection (whanaungatanga), and to support healing and wellbeing.
Through facilitated discussion, breakout activities, and reflective practice, this session provides a safe space to unpack difficult emotions, share lived experience, and learn about common coping strategies with a focus on self-care.

Register to join us here: https://education.griefcentre.org.nz/course/addiction0426

Note: Based on your feedback, we’re trialing a more interactive format with breakout rooms and group discussions. Because of this, the session won’t be recorded and will only be available live. We hope you love it!

Our next live webinar is running next Monday, 20th April.

This is shaping up to be just as popular as Ruth's first webinar last year. In that one (which is available in our 'on-demand' library if you missed it) Ruth discussed attachment theory and how that impacts the way we grieve bereavements.

In this second webinar, we'll be exploring “living grief”: non-death-related losses such as infertility, health decline, estrangement, unmet hopes, and ambiguous or cumulative losses. Drawing on Attachment Theory, Neufeld’s Frustration–Adaptation-Aggression model, and Internal Family Systems, Ruth will show how clinicians can support clients to stay adaptive and soft-hearted, engage in Self-led grieving and transform frustration into healthy adaptation.

Register here to join us for 'Living grief: Building client resilience in the face of life's futilities and ambiguous losses': https://education.griefcentre.org.nz/course/livinggrief0426

February is Pride Month — a time to celebrate the strength and diversity of our rainbow communities, and also to gently acknowledge the grief many carry.

For LGBTQIA+ people, grief can be layered and complex. It may include the loss of a partner or chosen whānau, estrangement from family, or grief that isn’t always recognised or understood. You deserve support that honours your identity and your relationships.

At Grief Centre, we provide inclusive, affirming support for people of all identities and communities.
This Pride Month, we remind you that no one has to navigate grief alone. 🌈

So great to see this, and kudos to the founders for starting this initiative to connect to other grieving fathers.

It truly takes a village - compassionate friends, family, and neighbors coming together - to hold space for grief and heal side by side. 💛

"Men don't talk, but it's okay to talk about baby loss and that's what we're trying to do."

Yesterday, dads Brett, Sean, Sam, Steven and Aaron were on This Morning, talking about their football club, Forget Me Knot FC. The club was created to bring together local dads affected by baby loss.

The dads spoke about their experiences of baby loss and how connecting with other dads has helped them feel less alone in their grief.

Thank you all for sharing so openly 🩷

We know it can be hard to navigate baby loss without the right support. And almost two thirds of partners who have been through baby loss told us they need help to open up.

That's why we created our Dads and Partners Hub, full of information, answers and stories from dads and partners. Find tailored support: https://bit.ly/3yOI5DZ
