Here’s a simple and healthier hot chocolate recipe that you can try during the festive season 🎄

1 cup almond milk
1-2 tbsp cacao powder
1 tsp maple syrup or honey
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch cinnamon
Pinch salt

Heat the almond milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

In a small bowl, mix the cacao powder with 1/4 cup of the milk to create a smooth paste. Pour this mixture back into the saucepan with the rest of the milk. Stir until well combined.

Add your choice of maple syrup or honey. Adjust the amount to your desired sweetness. Add vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt.

Continue heating the hot chocolate over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Be careful to not boil the mixture.

Pour the hot chocolate into a mug and enjoy! ☕️

Feel free to customise this recipe based on your preferences. You can also experiment with different plant based milks or add a dash of your favourite spices for extra flavour.

Have you been listening to your body lately? It is a crucial aspect of maintaining good health and well-being. Here’s a couple of ways to check in with yourself today.

Hydration
Thirst is your body’s way of telling you that it needs more fluids. Drink water throughout the day. It is vital for a proper functioning body and brain 🧠

Adequate Sleep
If you are tired, rest. Prioritise sleep and create a regular sleep schedule that aligns with your body’s natural rhythms 😴

Physical Activity
Pay attention to your body’s need for movement. Regular exercise is essential, but also listen to your body when it needs to rest. Go out for a gentle walk around the block, a bike ride, you can even run around with your dog in your backyard. Find things that you enjoy to keep you active 🏃‍♂️

Pain
Don’t ignore pain or discomfort. That’s your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. Seek professional help when necessary and don’t push through severe pain during exercise or daily activities 🤕

Stress
Stress can manifest physically. Listen to your body’s stress signals, such as muscle tension, headaches, or changes in appetite. Practice stress-reduction techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or yoga 🧘‍♀️

Rest
Allow your body to rest when it needs to. Adequate rest is essential for your body to recover, promotes muscle growth, restores energy, supports the immune system, and maintains emotional balance. Rest also aids in hormonal balance and prevents burnout. It is a vital component for a healthier and more balanced life ☺️

Yin yoga is a slower paced style of yoga where poses are held for a longer period of time. Poses target the deep connective tissue like fascia, joints, ligaments and tendons, strengthening them over time and improving flexibility. The areas worked are often perceived as non-pliable like the hips, pelvis and lower back. Students also learn to breathe through their discomfort and connect with their thoughts.

We run group classes throughout the week. Come along and have a go! There is space available in our Wednesday 5:30pm, and Thursday 9:15am Group Class.

Have you tried Myofascial Release? It is a technique that focuses on the stretchy tissue (fascia) in your body where pressure and stretching is used to help loosen up the tight spots in your fascia.

If you are seeking improved range of motion, relief from muscle tension, or need help recovering from an injury, Myofascial release is your answer.

We are offering 10% off Myofascial Release sessions with Motoko for the month of September!
