We’re collectively standing against a proposed Bill targeting unhoused people in Auckland. If passed, the Policing (Direction to Move On) Amendment Bill would let Police force homeless people out of the city centre and into more unsafe areas.

This Bill is harmful because:

🏠 if passed, it would drive people with nowhere else to go away from areas where support services and networks are.

🏠 nearly 50% of unhoused people in Aotearoa live with mental health challenges and/or addictions – and having stable housing is key to treatment and recovery.

🏠 criminalising unhoused people doesn’t work. What does work are programmes that provide people with housing, health and wrap-around supports.

We’ve joined and many others in calling to scrap this Bill.

In 2021, seven-year-old Emilie walked the length of New Zealand’s Te Araroa Trail, with her mum and raised 10k for our work💜

“At its heart, this book is about more than just adventure - it’s about the profound impact of time in nature on our mental and emotional wellbeing. The story gently celebrates resilience, connection, and the grounding power of the outdoors - themes that align so closely with the Mental Health Foundation’s kaupapa." Victoria – Emilie’s mum.

To enter the draw, simply post a pic of yourself enjoying an adventure in nature in the comments below! 🎄 🍃

$61.6 million in mental health crisis funding, announced last week by the Minister for Mental Health.

Which is great, except – how will the 100 New Zealanders a day needing crisis support be able to access it?

That’s why we’re supporting Te Hiringa Mahara | The Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission’s call for a nationally cohesive and coordinated crisis response system by June 2027.

It’s what’s needed to make sure people in crisis can access the right support, when and where they need it.

Read their full report, and the ‘quick wins’ they are suggesting, here: https://www.mhwc.govt.nz/our-work/mental-health-and-addiction-system/crisis-responses-monitoring-report/

It’s World Kindness Day – a little goes a long way ✨

Small acts make a big difference for others and for you. Compliment someone, let a driver in, or leave a kind note. You’ll both enjoy a mood boost, long after the act itself.

Kia atawhai tātou i a tātou.💫
