A big moment for our community!

The Auckland Central Glaucoma Support Group recently wrapped up their final gathering for 2025, bringing people together over great kai, warm conversation, and shared experiences.

We were especially proud to have Dr Sonya Bennett, one of our City Eye Specialists ophthalmologists, speak at the event. Dr Bennett shared thoughtful insights about glaucoma and mental health - a gentle reminder that caring for your eyes is also about caring for your whole self. ✨

With the year coming to a close, the glaucoma groups will be taking a well-earned break before returning in 2026 with renewed energy and connection.

A huge thank-you to Glaucoma NZ, the wonderful volunteer facilitators, and all the members who attend, support one another, and make these gatherings so meaningful. ❤️🙏

Collaboration with Eye Health Aotearoa

As chair of ONZ, Dr Sonya Bennett recently attended the Parliamentary Friends meeting in Wellington on Tuesday 7 October 2025. This event was organised by Eye Health Aotearoa, which showcased their vital work in the Legislative Council Chamber at Parliament House. It brought together eye health organisations and speakers with lived experience of vision impairment.

During this visit, he observed the outstanding work of Dr. Ramón Medel and his dedicated team. Thank you to the Medel Eye Hub team for the warm welcome and for sharing valuable insights! Together, we are making strides in enhancing eye health worldwide. 👁️💡
