I am excited to announce that from Wednesday 26th of this month all appointments will be held at the Nitespa at 47 Rene Street, Springlands.

I will be working out of a beautiful, cosy room close to the main building at the Nitespa, amongst the lovely vines. You can come wait in the Nitespa reception when you arrive and I'll be out shortly to greet you.

Until then I will be working out of the lovely Body Restore Clinic as per usual.

Hey everyone, I've made the decision to come back to Blenheim 🥳
Not because of the horrendous Wellington weather we've had over the past few weeks but mainly for family reasons. ❤️

How is everyone's 2024 so far?

Today I thought I'd bring focus to one of my favourite acupuncture points, Sanyinjiao SP-6.
This point’s name refers to the 3 “Yin” meridians that intersect at this point on the lower leg. That makes it a great point to stimulate and fortify the Yin of the body which is the feminine energy. The yin is important for proper function and maintenance of bodily fluids including hydration, cervical mucus, and menstrual blood.

How to find it:
Place 4 fingers right above your inner ankle. It’s right on top of that in the depression on the border of the tibia bone. It may even be slightly tender to the touch. You can stimulate it with acupressure for 1-2 minutes on both sides for some at-home energy balancing.

I hope everyone has had a lovely and relaxing weekend and perhaps had some time to check in on and reflect on your emotional wellbeing. 🌸

As you will know, our emotions or mental state are very much connected to our wellbeing and health.

In Chinese medicine, it is believed that the emotional activities are based on the 5 internal organs’ essential qi (energy), and these emotions are considered the major internal causes of diseases when they become uncontrollable or overwhelming, that it causes injury to the internal organs.

Excess emotional activity can cause Yin and Yang imbalances within the body, irregular flow of blood circulation, qi blockages within the meridians and impairment of organ functions. Also having too less or repressing these emotions can have a similar effect.

One of my lovely patients has agreed to be a model to showcase one of my favourite points - LI 4, also known as Hegu.

The large intestine meridian runs up the outer side of the arm and up to the face. This point is great for treating many health conditions, including headaches and migraines, and it also promotes the smooth circulation of qi to help bring the body into balance. 🍃

A study from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre showing acupuncture and massage as best drug-free cancer pain relief.

"Acupuncture can have an enduring benefit," says Dr Jun Mao, Chief of the Integrative Medicine Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and Co-President of the Society for Acupuncture Research.

"For people who do not want to take a lot of medication, could even be considered as a first-line treatment for pain management."
