Well, the goal of a 'normal' massage is to work on the muscles: to stretch and lengthen them to their optimal resting position. Using mainly hands with an appropriate pressure (and at times other tools like cupping). It can feel nice, it can feel a bit sore, it can feel relaxing, wonderful and at times a bit challenging, if you have a lot of tension and painful knots that need detangling. You should leave feeling much better, less achy. And relax.
While the goal of a lymphatic massage is to speed up and flush the lymph system. What is the lymph system? It is the rubbish collector/cleanser of the body. It is an integral part of your immune system. It keeps the fluid in your body in balance and your immune system in fighting form. How is it done? By alternating between gently pumping the lymph nodes and moving stagnant lymph fluid( reducing swelling) towards those lymph nodes for cleansing. Flushing toxins, viruses, bacterias and pathogens. This is a very gentle type of massage, done without oil, using light pressure, gravity( your legs are elevated) and compression bandages (when appropriate) to support the process. It is super revitalising. And stimulating to the whole body, your digestion and your immune system. It helps fighting lingering viral symptoms such as tiredness, lack of energy and brain fog. And so much more...
And as a bonus, it is super relaxing and wonderfully calming to the nervous system. 🥰
