Lower back pain is a common result of tight hip flexors, hamstrings, quads and glutes. Overtime, these collaborative working muscle groups become imbalanced and can begin to pull on posture. Minor or major cases of pelvic tilt is associated with compensation patterns that are short-term or prolonged. Progressive posture changes due to pulled or tightening muscles, redirects the natural state of skeletal structure and muscle support.

Compensation causes muscle atrophy from underused strengthening pathways in major and minor muscle regions that are internally blocked from fresh nutrients. Metabolic waste builds up in affected muscles which releases inflammation that shortens and reduces mobility.

Opening the corresponding areas by following reflexology and localized pathways, manually breaking down the metabolic waste, re-introduces the natural gradient flow through lymphatic and blood circulation. For muscle fiber lengthening and restructuring to rebalance natural mobility, open pathways help muscles recover quickly after a session of trigger point release with therapeutic techniques.

Working in cold conditions and overuse of muscles in the lower back and hip regions through bending, lifting, kneeling or standing, can cause inflammation that pinches the nerve running from the lower back, through the hip, into the lower leg and calf muscles. This condition is a common occurance, trigger point therapy helps reduce inflammation and relieves the pinched nerve, clinically called "piriformis syndrome".

Releasing the compensation tension points in the hip and lower back before triggering the sciatic nerve pathway, leads to recovery with proper support from the larger muscles regions.

Applied heat before session work, helps promote vasodialation in the areas of inflammation:

"Vasodilation is the widening of blood vessels as a result of the relaxation of the blood vessel's muscular walls."

Another common occurance is "sciatica", which runs along the same pathway of piriformis syndrome. The main difference between the two, is that sciatica has symptoms that run from the lower back to the lower leg, while piriformis has pain in the glute and hip.

Opening and providing a space for people to feel cared for and restored, is one of my favorite elements about owning Te Koha Massage 🌸

Along with Therapeutic focus, Relaxation Massage is one of my favorite therapy styles. Escaping the normal routines of life to bring someone back into harmony, has been one of my lifelong passions.

My Relaxation Massage flow is catered to each client's preference and isn't on a choreographed schedule. In each session, the impromptu "dance" is smooth and harmonious that provides full body and mind relaxation. Gentle lymphatic release throughout the massage takes the body into a regenerative state of bliss to help release built up toxins from stress.

I incorporate specific requests ranging from face, hands, scalp and foot massage focus to complete a unique indulgent experience every session. Each day brings its different stresses and should be met with an equally attentive approach catered to each individual.

At Te Koha Massage, my goal for every theraputic massage session is to formulate a specific treatment method for each individual point of tension in the inflammed muscle region to reduce chronic pain.

My background in Anatomy & Physiology, Psychology, Nutrition, Chemistry and Medical Terminology creates the foundation of my knowledge and passion in an empathetic massage therapy style. Quick muscle recovery is encouraged by following the natural patterns of muscle fibers to their release points. By applying the interpretative corresponce to nerve networking and intermitted lymphatic system drainage, knots are broken up to allow blood flow and circulation
into the oxygen depraved tissue.

Proper blood circulation to an inflammed area resumes the natural healing, regenerative and toxin filtration abilities on a cellular level. Mixing relax concepts with trigger point techniques work together for the harmony and balance of my practice at Te Koha Massage.
