We believe it is the small personal details that matter when arranging a funeral and it is the extra service that we provide, that makes the difference. We offer a full range of funeral facilities and amenities, with the large and modern Mayfield Chapel available for services, a dedicated catering lounge and crematorium. Sowman’s cater for all from the Marlborough Sounds through to Kaikoura and the surrounding areas.Our services include burials, cremations and full monumental supply. Sowman Monumental are registered Monumental Masons who can supply quality workmanship for memorialisation, and offer additional services such as restoration and repair.

Sowman’s Funerals is now offering Water Cremation — a gentle, respectful alternative to traditional cremation, with a reduced environmental footprint.

This option provides families with more choice when honouring a loved one, aligning care, dignity, and sustainability. As always, our team is here to support you with compassion and guidance, every step of the way.

✨ Christmas Remembrance Service 2025 ✨

Last night, we gathered together for our annual Christmas Remembrance Service, and what a beautiful evening it was. ❤️

We were truly touched by the wonderful turnout. Seeing so many people come together, each carrying their own memories, their own stories, and their own quiet moments of grief.

In the soft glow of candlelight, we shared silence, and shared remembrance, we were reminded that no one walks their grief journey alone.

To everyone who joined us: thank you. Your presence made the evening meaningful, comforting, and deeply heartfelt. We hope you left feeling a little lighter, a little more supported, and wrapped in the warmth of community.

Wishing you peace, love, and gentle moments of comfort this Christmas season. ✨❤️🎄

We had a few brave little souls stop by Sowman’s today for some Halloween treats and we have to say, we’re impressed! It’s not every day you get trick-or-treaters who are game enough to come through our doors.
