Support when it’s essential; starts with Supporting Families Marlborough

At Supporting Families we offer the Marlborough region a confidential and free family and whanau service. We support families and whanau with the enhancement of their ability to support loved ones who are or may be in the process of developing a major mental illness or unstable addiction. Support – Whether you are in need of personal or emotional support for your family/whanau. We offer understanding and affirming help with regards to the social and work related impacts of a mental illness or addiction within the family unit by assisting in the maintenance of your loved ones own personal wellness. Education – Through assisting with the development and implementation of strategies by working alongside family / whanau we aim to strengthen communication and problem solve any issues within your house hold; to support the service user and themselves before as well as during the individual’s recovery process. We supply your family with the relevant information needed to understand mental illness or addiction with the support of Mental Health and Addiction Services, community and government agencies and support networks. Advocacy – We are an advocate and liaison for you with other agencies so your family / whanau can receive assistance and promote self advocacy skills. We support family members on the journey towards wellbeing. We are able to visit you in your home or at any place where you feel most comfortable. Remember strength and recovery is the process of acceptance from both the unwell and their whanau. Contact us today for family support.
