Excited to cheer on Gryllsy & Smudge! 🎉

Cambridge Raceway is excited to welcome New Zealand’s leading jockey, CRAIG GRYLLS, on course this Friday, January 9th as he takes on the Dunstan Horsefeeds Battle of the Breeds 2026 — right in the heart of our Flying stakes race meeting.

Craig Grylls is one of the biggest names in NZ racing:

▪️Multiple Group One winner
▪️ Over 1,000 career wins

He will partner the Group One winning thoroughbred ON THE ROCKS, formerly trained by Ballymore Racing NZ - a recent winner of a TiES jumping futurity qualifier and owned by our very own Jo Ferguson.

The pair join the LOVERACING.NZ Team Thoroughbred in Friday nights competition, and this is a must-see night for racing fans of all codes.

He's ridden in the Monte trot, he's won the dual sulky race.... but can he show jump?

A massive HAPPY BIRTHDAY shoutout to all of our wonderful Standardbreds 🥳🥳

We have a majority of our horses turning 2yo today - spending the best part of 2025 educating them and we hope to hit the ground running this year with our youngstock.

2026 - The year of the horse. As George Simon would say; Let's bring it on! 💪

🟡⚫️ While we didn't win, we are extremely proud of CRACKERJACK's efforts in Friday nights Golden Gait final at Alexandra Park.

He made the Gr.1 winner Ya Rite Darl really work to get past him, and kept the margin to half a length.

He has come a long way throughout his 3 year old season, giving us lots of proud moments and lots to be excited for, as he's certainly put his hand up amongst the best of his age group in his last few starts.

He's now off for a well deserved Christmas holiday 🎄

They're home 🏡

She Reigns and her Volstead filly back on the farm today. Again, a huge thankyou to the foaling unit staff at Cambridge Stud - professional and thorough as you'd expect. Really put our mind at ease throughout the whole process.

Long legs and big ears - that's the recipe for success isn't it?

As the years go by, things evolve. Dylan and I are Kpop parents now - so welcome to the circus, Rumi!

We came, we saw......... we tried! 🟡⚫️

A brave effort from Crackerjack last night to run 6th in the New Zealand Trotting Derby, going down to the absolute elite horses of the field.
A huge week for him both physically and mentally, only racing in Cambridge 7 days ago and making the trip south. He went out last night and gave it everything he had - which is all we can ask of any horse.

A huge thankyou to Greg and Ben Hope Racing for their hospitality for the week - and congratulations on the deserved win! Extraordinary horsemen and trainer of trotters 🤝

Flipper is already on the journey home, no doubt looking forward to being back in his own paddock.

Garrards New Zealand Trotting Derby Gr.1

🟡⚫️ We are so excited to be lining up CRACKERJACK in this prestigious race tonight at Addington raceway.

He faces an outstanding field of 3 year old trotters but he is full of confidence after his Thames Cup win last week and deserves his place in the field.

IT'S A GIRL 💕👑

In the early hours of this morning, SHE REIGNS delivered a beautiful Volstead filly to add to our fast growing band of trotters.

She took her sweet time, Princess clearly enjoying her stay at Cambridge Stud so much (and who could blame her with those incredible facilities!) A huge thankyou to the team there for taking such great care of our girls.

The newest little Princess was not interested in waking up for her visitors after her early arrival this morning - royalty needs her beauty sleep!
