Hello to our North Canty mums! - this may interest you,

Everyone wants to hold the baby, who holds the mum?

Having support and a listening ear who "gets it" is so important. Noone understands a new mum like a new mum, wether this is baby #1 or #5 we know those adjustments over the forst few months with your new family member can be tough...
A wee social outing with a cuppa could really fill your cup!

📣SPACE WOODEND - STARTING ON WEDNESDAY!

Adjusting to your new life, new routine (or lack of it) and new baby can be a daunting task that is sure to raise many questions. At SPACE you and your baby will connect with other new parents & their babies to explore parenting and children’s development in a safe, facilitated environment. Your Space group will meet weekly, giving you and your baby the chance to make real connections during your baby’s first year. At your SPACE group you will get the chance you have some valuable facilitated conversations about some of the following topics:
💜Sleeping and crying
💜Establishing attachment
💜Expressing myself (communication and language development)
💜Physical development (fine and big muscle co-ordination)
💜Becoming a parent
💜The beauty of the brain (brain development and early experiences)
💜Treasure baskets, heuristic play and exploration of play
💜A sense of me and others (socialisation)

“Touch is the first language we speak” Stephen Gaskin.

The power of touch for our children is immeasurable.

As Mama, I can heal hearts, calm fidgets, fix ouchies, reassure nerves, communicate safety, and bring on sleep simply through loving touch.

It is my superpower… especially when little Stevie is poorly with another UTI.

Touch really is the first language we speak, which is why is so valuable for newborns.

They’ve never experienced smells, sounds of the outside world, lights, the feeling of cold and sensations of blankets and clothing.

Touch through skin to skin can communicate safety and love.

It can help them transition to life outside the womb as it regulates their breathing, heart rate, body temperature, and blood glucose levels.

It helps reduce your chance of postpartum depression - re-wiring our and baby’s brains. And it increases rates of breastfeeding.

If babe is needing care in a NICU or Special Care Nursery, skin-to-skin reduces length of admission and improves growth and wellbeing.

There are huge neuro-developmental benefits of skin-to-skin also.

Is skin-to-skin communicated on your birth plan? It should be. Don’t assume this will just be the norm where you’re giving birth.
