Yogi Explorerz is owned by Chrissie McNeill who is incredibly passionate about the benefits of teaching yoga to adults and children. I have been practicing Yoga for over 18 years and am a Certified Kids Yoga Teacher through Rainbow Yoga. I have also completed my 200hr Teacher Training (Yoga Alliance certified) at Kawai Purpura and Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra 150hrs at Anahata Yoga Retreat Centre. I have been teaching yoga for over 7 years. Registered Nurse for over 29 years and currently work with age 4- 13 year old children, their Whanau and schools. Work in collaboration to support/manage children’s health concerns benefiting their wellbeing. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in wellness and believe connection, gratitude and compassion are some key components to living a healthy, happy and balanced life. After having breast cancer at the age of 33 I realised how important my wellbeing was to live a happy, healthy and content life. This is when my yoga practice deepened, reducing my stress levels, nourishing my depleted body and slowing down my thoughts. Following my cancer treatment my marriage ended and I heavily relied on my breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation and asana's to get through this tough time. I fully endorse yoga as not only a practice but way of life. My knowledge and experience of yoga practices is rooted in Satyananda Yoga. It practices yoga in a traditional way, asanas (postures) to balance the body and mind through the physical body, pranayama (breathing practices) to work on the energy body (equated with Ki or Chi in other systems), and meditation to calm and focus the mind. My classes are gentle and suitable for those new to yoga, suffering from injuries and those who would like to relax and give their body a good stretch without exerting themselves too much. My students age between 30's up to 70's, there's no barriers to practicing yoga with me. Benefits of practicing yoga:
• Enhances strength and flexibility and improves co-ordination and
balance.
• Promotes better posture and joint mobility.
• Boosts self-esteem and improves mental health and sleep.
• Helps manage stress and anxiety through breathing, relaxation,
mindfulness and meditation.

• Can both calm and energise your body.

✨ Gentle Yoga – This Term’s Focus ✨

This term our Gentle Yoga classes will be focused on supporting the skeletal system as we age — caring for our bones and joints with mindful movement and breath.

Classes will include:
🦴 Gentle stretches to improve mobility and ease
💪 Building strength in the muscles around key joints — hips, spine and knees
🌱 Strengthening core muscles to support balance and posture
🧘‍♀️ Slow, accessible asana (poses) tailored to your body
🌬️ Calming breathing techniques (pranayama) to soothe the nervous system and support anxiety
😌 Guided meditation or deep relaxation to leave you feeling grounded and at ease

These classes are slow, supportive and adaptable, suitable for beginners or anyone wanting a softer, more nurturing practice.

Come as you are — and leave feeling stronger, steadier and calmer 💚

I love this pose at the end of a stressful day or before bed with diaphragmatic/belly breathing or just slow deep breathing. Great for slowing down your nervous system taking you into the 'rest & digest' (parasympathetic) part of your nervous system.
Calming, restorative and great to support restful sleep. Also great for those cankles!
If you're a beginner I'd suggest the tradition method of this pose only...
