hmmm. This is really interesting and point to questions about potential ways to understand links between exercise and mental health.

Psychology researchers have used virtual reality to find our brains oscillate with each step – an intriguing finding to better understand how we see the world.

This is an RNZ interview of about 28 minutes which discusses the importance of human connections and friendships for our health and happiness. It is the result of a study that has been running since 1938!

Dr Robert Waldinger has been studying human happiness and the secret to it for decades. He is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and Director of the the Harvard Study of Adult Development. That study first began in 1938 with 228 Harvard students with researchers collecting d...

This is for everyone out there who is struggling today.

Whether you are experiencing loneliness, depression, heartbreak or sadness.

Or whether you've been in alot of pain.

I hope you can take a moment from whatever it you're doing right now.

And do this brief loving-kindness practice with me okay?

---

Let's take a moment to close our eyes and get comfortable.

Then place a hand gently over your heart and feel yourself breathe.

With each slow breath, feel the air carress you from the inside.

And the warmth of your hand emanating into your heart.

Then imagine your heart like a flower bud, and visualise it slowly opening, just like how a flower opens up to a warm sun.

Next, gently ponder this questions below:

"What is it I need right now?"

"What would I like to hear from somebody else?"

--

It could be a need for love, comfort or connection.

💙 "May I be loved."

It could be a need to feel better, or healing from your pain.

💙 "May I be well."

It could also simply be a need for more rest.

💙 "May I have time to recover."

Or a need for yourself to be kinder, or more accepting of your present pain.

💙 "May I get through this difficult day."

And when you're ready, whisper to yourself this simple wish.

For you are struggling already, and you deserve love and kindness instead.

Take care,
Hernping

P.s. Especially for those struggling with valentines day today.

May you find comfort too.

--

It's been 3 days since I tore my left knee tendon completely. There's a teeny bit of pain but that's okay.

But what's really been getting me down is not being able to work or move around freely.

Feeling like I'm not able to do very much, other than worry about all the appointments I've had to reschedule (thank you 🙏).

Still I'm grateful for everyone's kindness, patience and well wishes.

I'm hoping for the best, and headed for surgery tomorrow :)

So here's me taking a moment to be kind to myself the night before too, wishing:

"May I be safe."

"May I give myself time to rest."

"May I be okay".
