Aotearoa is at high risk of a measles outbreak 😷

Measles is a very contagious viral illness that spreads easily between people and makes most people feel very unwell. It can also cause serious health problems, including runny poos (diarrhoea), chest infections and brain swelling.

About 1 in 3 people with measles will need hospital care. 🏥 The measles vaccine is very effective at preventing measles.

Across Aotearoa New Zealand, people’s immunity to measles is very low as not enough people are fully immunised against the illness. This puts us at high risk of an outbreak.

New Zealand currently has measles cases linked to overseas travel, and the risk of measles being brought back into New Zealand by travellers remains high. Immunisation is the best protection and will help to prevent the spread of measles in our local communities.

We are currently experiencing high volumes at our Urgent Care. Our wait times may be longer than usual. We understand that this may be frustrating, and we sincerely apologise for any delays you may encounter. Urgent care is for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries that need immediate care. For non-urgent issues, we kindly ask that you book an appointment. This will help us manage the volume of patients more effectively and ensure that those with urgent needs can be seen as quickly as possible.

From 1st August 2025 our fees will be changing. Like many healthcare providers we're facing inflationary cost pressures, that funding has not kept up with.
