Residents recently went to a Ladies Lunch at Dune Cafe in New Brighton! Set just a few blocks back from the beach, Dune is a bright, relaxed spot with a friendly local feel—perfect for a long lunch and a good catch-up. We loved the great coffee, tasty cabinet treats, and the easy-going atmosphere.

Residents came together in the Clubhouse for a live talk with John Rogers. We loved hearing the remarkable history of the many attempts to reach the North Pole—an engaging journey through big ambition, extreme conditions, and unforgettable exploration stories.

A huge thank you to John for sharing his time and expertise, and to all residents who came along and made it such a great talk!

We recently took a guided tour of the iconic Christ Church Cathedral, ahead of the next stage of its long-awaited restoration. The visit was a unique opportunity to step inside the historic landmark and learn more about its rich history, the impact of the earthquakes, and the plans to carefully restore and strengthen the building. It was a great chance to reminisce and a rare opportunity to see the cathedral up close before the restructuring work continues.

We recently took part in a guided tour of the new Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre—New Zealand’s largest aquatic, indoor recreation and leisure facility. The visit provided an opportunity to explore the impressive venue and its amenities, and everyone enjoyed seeing the space come to life.

Alpine View residents enjoyed a wonderful Dolphin Tour Cruise in Akaroa, where they observed sea animals in their natural environment. Afterwards, they savoured a delightful lunch at Ma Maison Restaurant overlooking the harbour.

A Taste of China: Year of the Horse Celebration!

Last week, we celebrated Chinese New Year, ringing in the Year of the Horse with a fabulous “Taste of China” event at the Clubhouse! We filled up on a delicious buffet featuring all our favourite Chinese dishes, while The Party Singers wowed everyone with their lively performance!

The recent “Meet & Mingle (Friends Edition)” event was a fantastic success! Residents jumped at the chance to connect with new people in a fun, relaxed setting—think speed-dating, but for making friends. We enjoyed lively four-minute conversations before rotating to meet someone new, creating plenty of laughter and lasting friendships!

Residents recently enjoyed a visit to The Art of Banksy Exhibition at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre. Showcasing over 150 of Banksy’s most iconic and provocative works, it marked the first time this collection had been displayed in the South Island.

We were lucky to welcome Chrissy, a Professor of Anthropology from California State University, who joined us for an engaging discussion on “Sex vs Gender.”

Residents enjoyed listening to this thought-provoking and informative talk, and it sparked plenty of interest and conversation.
