A Taste of China: Year of the Horse Celebration!

Last week, we celebrated Chinese New Year, ringing in the Year of the Horse with a fabulous “Taste of China” event at the Clubhouse! We filled up on a delicious buffet featuring all our favourite Chinese dishes, while The Party Singers wowed everyone with their lively performance!

The recent “Meet & Mingle (Friends Edition)” event was a fantastic success! Residents jumped at the chance to connect with new people in a fun, relaxed setting—think speed-dating, but for making friends. We enjoyed lively four-minute conversations before rotating to meet someone new, creating plenty of laughter and lasting friendships!

Residents gathered in vibrant red and pink to enjoy an unforgettable evening featuring live music by John Clarke, whose romantic ballads created the perfect festive mood. Residents recently enjoyed a visit to The Art of Banksy Exhibition at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre. Showcasing over 150 of Banksy’s most iconic and provocative works, it marked the first time this collection had been displayed in the South Island.

We were lucky to welcome Chrissy, a Professor of Anthropology from California State University, who joined us for an engaging discussion on “Sex vs Gender.”

Residents enjoyed listening to this thought-provoking and informative talk, and it sparked plenty of interest and conversation.

💐The last Ladies’ Lunch for 2025 saw our residents head to The Bridge in Prebbleton, a charming spot known for its warm hospitality and delicious meals. The group enjoyed great food, laughter, and plenty of conversation—what a perfect way to wrap up the year together! 🥂

🚁 From October '24 to September '25, residents and staff across Qestral villages, including Alpine View, came together to fundraise for the Westpac Chopper Appeal!

Thanks to market days, themed events, raffles, and presentations, our villages raised an incredible $48,735.91 to help this vital emergency rescue service. Many residents and staff had personal connections to the Chopper, making the campaign even more meaningful.

The campaign concluded with an official presentation, attended by representatives from Westpac and the local Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated—you’ve made a real difference! 💛

🎉🥂 New Year’s Eve in the Clubhouse! Residents rang in 2026 with live music, drinks, and plenty of laughter. The bar was open, friends toasted to the year gone by, and everyone celebrated together in style—what a fantastic way to welcome the new year! 🎶✨

We couldn’t finish 2025 without one last visit to The Bog last month! Residents enjoyed a delicious dinner while Jameson’s Irish Band filled the room with lively tunes—singing, tapping, and laughter all around. A perfect way to wrap up the year! 🇮🇪✨
