Te Arateatea Traditional Maori Healing

Te Arateatea Traditional Maori Healing Te Ara Teatea’s vision is to share wisdom and tools from our ancient Māori tradition Te Ara Teatea is the evolution of what was previously known as Te Maurea.

Now based in Ōtautahi/Christchurch, Ruatau Perez continues his mahi as a kaiako and practitioner of rongoā Māori (traditional Māori healing) alongside his partner. Ruatau (Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Tuhoe) was privileged enough to have trained under renowned tohunga Hohepa Delamere - more affectionately known as ‘Papa Jo’ - for 10 years. Since Papa’s passing, Ruatau has continued to share the esoteric teachings of whare waananga lore, treating countless people using traditional Māori healing modalities and hosting waananga throughout the motu and world. Ruatau’s specialties as a traditional Māori healing practitioner include romiromi, mirimiri, koomirimiri, wai rākau and whare waananga lore. Many of his past students can be found practising throughout Aotearoa, Australia and worldwide. Te Ara Teatea’s page is a platform from which we will share information about everything from upcoming waananga and romiromi/mirimiri clinics, to snippets of esoteric mātauranga, which we hope will inspire and stimulate the sharing of heart-centered kōrero within our community.

** Ōtautahi community clinic**

Our romiromi/mirimiri community clinic is held every Wednesday evening, 6-8pm, at Te Ara Teatea Whare Hauora, situated at the Tannery, Woolston. No bookings are required for these treatments - all are welcome to come along and receive a basic alignment from one of our training kairomiromi/kaimirimiri, for a koha/donation.

**1:1 treatments**

Ruatau is available for 1:1 treatments (private or ACC) Tues-Thurs. To book an appointment, txt/call 022 369 6761.

2-DAY LEVEL 1
FOUNDATIONAL WAANANGA IN ROMIROMI
10TH 11TH JANUARY 2026

To add to the kete of taonga, I am deeply grateful to have Ruatau Perez & Esha Tahapeehi from
Te Arateatea Traditional Maori Healing come up from Ōtautahi, to tautoko our kaupapa -
TE RANGAPŪ WHAKAORA, and to support the expansion of our Wairarapa Mirimiri Romiromi practitioners.

Ruatau is a long-time tauira of the late Papa Hohepa Delamere, carrying many of the ancient teachings- Te Whare Wānanga in Rongoā, Mirimiri and Romiromi. Ruatau has played a pivotal role in the resurgence of these traditional taonga, supporting tauira from around the world to learn the powerful art of Traditional Māori healing.

In this wānanga, you will learn an ancient takutaku passed down by Papa Hohepa, as well as the foundational principles of Romiromi.
This is a powerful entry point into the esoteric wisdom that Papa entrusted to those who continue this mahi.

Wairarapa practitioners will have first priority as we continue to grow the rōpū of Te Rangapū Whakaora.

Spaces are limited- so if you feel the call and everything aligns ✨️.. register your interest ASAP x

Ko te hau o te whenua, ko te manawa o te tāngata
The breath of the land is the heartbeat of the people.

As the mist settles & the sun dips low, we’re reminded that healing doesn’t always need words. It is in the stillness. The horizon. The unseen embrace of Papatūānuku.

A return to balance, breathe & belonging

Haa ki roto, haa ki waho.
A gentle reminder to return to your breath.
Inhale calm.
Exhale tension.
In every breath, there is healing.
In every moment, a chance to begin again.
