Balance Pilates is a Private studio, located in the stunning old Masonic Lodge, perched up on the Cashmere Hills, looking over Christchurch and the Southern Alps. With a highly qualified and experienced team of teachers, Balance Pilates offers Clinical Pilates, Private Reformer Classes, Semi-Private Classes and Group Classes.

​At Balance Pilates we know Pilates is for EVERY BODY and we welcome you to our studio. Whether it be to rehabilitate an injury, tone up, increase strength, train up for the ski season or a sporting event, or just for general well-being, we know that Pilates will make you feel fitter, stronger, healthier and happier. At Balance Pilates we also offer, Mat Pilates, Pre & Post Natal Reformer Classes, Barre Classes, Bumps & Barre, Bubs & Barre Classes and Yoga classes.

Watch our instructor Sarah in action. Beginning in a modified four-point kneeling position, she moves through single-leg footwork to activate the lower body and build stability through the pelvis and lats. From there, she adds a knee-off transition into a single-leg pike, lighting up the entire anterior chain while maintaining length and control through a long, neutral spine.

The sequence finishes with a modified Up Stretch, bringing everything together, core engagement, shoulder stability, and full-body coordination, for a smooth, strong, and beautifully connected flow.

I’ve been practising Reformer Pilates for many years and have experienced these benefits firsthand, which is why I always encourage clients to commit to a regular weekly practice to truly feel the difference.

Meet Noelia Baquero!

Originally from Argentina, Noelia has called Christchurch home since 2015. With a background in ballet and contemporary dance, movement has always been at the heart of her life.

Noelia discovered Pilates while studying to become a dance teacher and it quickly became her lifelong passion. She studied STOTT Pilates and began teaching in 2007 and, in 2023, also earned her Polestar Pilates certification. In 2024, she added an NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Personal Training to her list of achievements.

Noelia believes deeply in the power of Pilates for rehabilitation, improved movement, and overall well-being. She’s passionate about helping others feel stronger, move better, and rise to their next challenge.

Come experience Noelia’s energy, expertise, and love for Pilates in the studio. Her teaching style offers the perfect balance of encouragement and challenge, pushing you to improve while ensuring you always feel supported every step of the way.

Our Semi-Private (Duet) Reformer Classes are the perfect solution to motivated and committed to your Reformer Pilates journey. Bring a friend, partner or colleague and work towards your goals together in a Semi-Private Reformer session. With personalised attention and the energy of training alongside someone you know, these sessions are equal parts effective and enjoyable.

Please note: Both participants must complete a One-on-One Initial Introduction before joining Semi-Private sessions. This ensures you’re confident with Reformer fundamentals, understand core Pilates principles, and have had a personalised assessment so our instructors can tailor your training to your needs and goals.

Meet Hannah.

Hannah first discovered Pilates during her dance training as a way to recover from injury, and she was instantly hooked.

With a professional background in dance and specialised Polestar Pilates training, she brings a deep understanding of movement, alignment, and the body’s incredible ability to heal.

She’s also completed Modules 1 & 2 of Scolio-Pilates and Pains & Brains, giving her the tools to support clients navigating scoliosis, persistent pain, and nervous system challenges.

Hannah’s classes are technical yet fun, designed to help you move with greater awareness, confidence, and ease. 💪✨

You'll find Hannah in the studio on Wednesday's and Thursday's.

If work commitments prevent you from Monday classes, Labour Day could be the perfect opportunity to give Mindful Movers a go. This class is designed for those new to Reformer Pilates and clients rehabbing from injury. With a max of 8 per class, expect to focus on slow progression, balance, strength, stability, mobility, and mindful movement, in a safe and supportive environment.
