Toddler chosen combo, I'm calling it weet-bix and fruit or maybe pureed wheat crackers with tomato to try to reduce the ick factor. Anyone else's kids do any weird food combos?

Last night was a bit of a dinner disaster. Which means no leftovers for lunch and because I have yet to do this week's shop there's not a lot to work with. Thank goodness we have lettuces in the garden!! If you have space and haven't already, this weekend buy some lettuce seedlings and get them going. You can tear off leaves as you need and there's heaps of loose leaf varieties making for interesting salads, sandwiches and wraps for the warm sunny days ahead. 😎

A bit of motivation to remember it's important to love who you were, are, and will be. If there's parts you find hard ask what you can do to make it better and easier.

Lately I've been struggling with snacking mostly because I'm not usually bothered to add them in when I'm doing the week's menu. Healthy snacks need a little time, planning, and preparation too and by the end of the week when fruits and veggies are low and the dark chocolate has gone there's no real ready to go snack foods.
Sometimes I sit and think about how good some of those slightly less nutritious snacks would be, but I'm always in a super healthy mindset when I'm at the supermarket for those weekly shops, so chips or cookies rarely make it as far as the trolley. I have a few backups that usually work instead. For the salty/vinegary taste I either go popcorn drizzled in balsamic with a little salt or grainy crackers with cheese, gherkins, and tomatoes. For sweet I try and be a little organised and keep my dark chocolate stash stocked - if it's empty a hot chocolate usually will do it. If I need a little more, a bit of yoghurt with some thawed frozen berries is a bit of a treat - especially blueberries!
Your snacking needs will depend on your health goals but generally you want a little protein and choose more wholefood options. The idea is to avoid getting hungry and overeating at the next meal So small amounts of more satisfying food will help bridge those gaps between meals.

What does the word diet mean to you? For myself as a nutritionist it's an inclusive term describing what you eat. The word diet more often has a negative connotation limiting what you can eat and excluding specific foods or food types for a certain time period or as long as can be sustained.
There is no perfect diet - for every person, for every day, at every meal. We have different needs, different hormone levels, different levels of activities, different growth rates and so much more. What might be a great healthy choice for one person could cause inflammation and sickness in another. But the bottom line is eating according to a diet may not work for your body to actually decrease body fat. (You may lose weight but losing water and muscle wasn't exactly what you were going for). Which is super frustrating for your adherence to such diet because in the end you can't force your body to be the size you want with will and a celebrity endorsed book, you need to work with your body to make sustainable healthy choices for you that help you meet your goals and enjoy the life you have.

Meal times for Felicity are generally relaxed. It's not always easy but it's always the goal to have a calm and pleasant atmosphere.

Any stress or anxiety at mealtimes is challenging but if you can remain calm your child will be less inclined to explore what happens when they press your buttons. Most importantly though, having misery at meal times means no one wins. Anxiety increases adrenaline which in turn suppresses appetite and appetite is the driving force behind your young one's desire to eat!

Do something today for you. Write down a health goal. Make it something you can measure like fitting a certain item of clothing or the centimetres around your waist. Put a date to be achieved by beside it and share it with a friend who encourages you. Get them to take a before photo and make the time to do what you need to make it a reality.
