Mobile Medical

Mobile Medical Mobile Medical provides a mobile lithotripsy unit with a dedicated lithotripsy machine for the treatment of kidney stones and other calcifications.

It travels the length of New Zealand on a four-week schedule. Mobile Medical provides a mobile operating theatre environment with a dedicated Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) machine for the treatment of kidney stones and other calcifications. While very effective, lithotripsy machines are expensive and most regions in New Zealand do not have a sufficient case load to justify the purchase of their own equipment. The solution to this was to mobilise a purpose-built unit, allowing equal access to suitable patients throughout New Zealand. Sharing the facility ensures that the service can be delivered in a cost-effective manner. While the mobile service also allows patients to be treated by their own urologist, close to home.

Our Story

Mobile Medical Technology provides a mobile operating theatre environment with a dedicated Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) machine for the treatment of kidney stones (and sometimes biliary stones or other calcifications). While very effective, lithotripsy machines are expensive and most regions in New Zealand do not have a sufficient case load to justify the purchase of their own equipment. The solution to this was to mobilise a purpose built unit, allowing equal access to suitable patients throughout New Zealand. Sharing the facility ensures that the service can be delivered in a cost-effective manner. While the mobile service also allows patients to be treated by their own urologist, close to home.
