Changes to Prescription Lengths

From 1 February 2026, there will be changes to prescription lengths. Some patients may be eligible to receive prescriptions for up to 12 months (instead of the current 3 months), where this is clinically safe and appropriate.

Please note that not all medications are included in these changes. When your next prescription is due for renewal, we recommend booking an appointment with your clinician to discuss your options. Phone 445 4688

Meningococcal vaccines reminder for students

A reminder that students entering their first year of living in boarding schools, hostels or tertiary education halls of residence are eligible for Bexsero and MenQuadfi vaccinations.
Those adolescents who received MeNZB programme vaccines in childhood are still eligible for Bexsero vaccines and it is recommended they receive them.
Bexsero is a two-dose course separated by 8 weeks (can be reduced to 4 weeks if indicated), and MenQuadfi is a single dose.
MenQuadfi and Bexsero can be administered at the same visit, using different sites.

Funding eligibility for meningococcal vaccines

Meningococcal vaccines are funded for individuals aged between 13 and 25 years (inclusive), who are entering close living situations within the next 3 months; or are in their first year of living in boarding school hostels, tertiary education halls of residence, military barracks, youth justice residences, or prisons.

We are pleased to advise you that Dr Toby Calvert has joined the Junction Health team. He will be available for appointments 4 days a week.

A little about Toby:
I was born in Dunedin and grew up in Christchurch. I have spent a lot of time overseas, most significantly in Finland, Japan and Australia, where I trained and worked as a paramedic. After returning to Otago to study medicine, I worked in multiple locations across the South Island and developed a strong interest in rural medicine and have most recently been working across both Central Otago hospitals. I enjoy all areas of general practice, with particular interests in paediatrics, older person health and acute care. I’ve settled in Cromwell with my family, including three school-aged children, and we love making the most of the outdoor lifestyle in this beautiful region.

If you are impacted by the Manage My Health cyber security incident, there is help available.

Manage My Health is now contacting patients who are impacted. They are providing those people with a reference number and an 0800 number to call. If you have closed your MMH account or are not able to access it (perhaps you have not accessed it in years) you will be emailed in coming days.

The notifications to New Zealanders will take several days. To check if you have been impacted you can log into your Manage My Health account.

The data that was accessed illegally was to the ‘Health Documents’ part of the portal only. The rest of the platform was not breached, and neither is the patient management system at the practice.

We know this is an anxious time for many. Whether you are directly impacted or not, there is help available. You can contact the 0800 number you have been provided (quote the reference number) or our Health Improvement Practitioner and Health Coach offer free 30min appointments to support your wellbeing, please feel free to call reception to book an appointment.
