"The team was just amazing, and we are so grateful" say Colin and his wife, Diane, after the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Service responded to Colin who had suffered a cardiac arrest at their home in Invercargill.
From Diane providing early chest compressions to the care provided by first responders, Southland and Dunedin Hospitals, and the early morning response from the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter crew that brought an ICU retrieval team to Colin, the whole system came together to save Colin's life.
After open heart surgery and a month in hospital, Colin is back at home and enjoyed a recent well-deserved weekend away. Colin and Diane thanked the team for their professional and very kind response in such a frightening situation and wanted to share their story to highlight that none of us knows when we or our loved ones may need this critical service.
